Is Speaking In Tongues Really Necessary And Compulsory??? by inositol88(m): 7:46am On Oct 11, 2015
First of all take note that am not an atheist, just a realist! I believe in the fact that the holy spirit exist, am equally aware of the fact that the holy spirit teaches us to pray and even gives the gift of tongues as it happened on the day of Pentecost.

But the rate at which people speak in tongues this days makes me begin to wonder if the holy spirit seeks your permission before coming upon u when praying.

I was passing beside a church last week, and to my utmost bewilderment, I heard the head pastor saying "if don't know how to speak in tongues please come out let me pray for you so can start speaking in. tongues fluently"

Then the following questions were stirred up in my heart and I decide to bring them here for a better clarification

1. when Christ's deciples spoke in tongues, it was understood by people around them, how come we don't understand even a word when people speak in tongues dis days?

2.must you speak in tongues before God answers your prayers?

3. is speaking in tongues spirit controlled or human controlled??

These questions really need your answers!!!

On the issue speaking in tongues I make the following submissions to your projected objections.

1. On the days of Pentecost the disciples speak in various languages or tongues and not shirorobaboboomarae as we have today.Though not all understand but many understand. The reason none understand the so call speak in tongues is because it is not the same with the one manifested in the Acts of Apostles. Even at that one cannot leave the possibility of sounding unintelligible as some sounded to the people on the days of Pentecost. But the bottom line is the spoke in tongues because it's what is needed to make people aware of the power of the new age and to create evangelist among the onlookers.

2. Nope, capital No.

3.I don't speak in tongues but scripturally it's under the control of the Spirit. That is if it is given by the Holy Spirit. Most of the tongues around are given by Satan.

I've been baptised in the holy spirit, amazing experience I tell ya

But to your questions,
2.)It is not compulsory to speak in tongues before God can answer your prayers,

3.)I feel somepeople force it, it should be as the spirit leads.

1.)Not everybody has the ability to interprete other tongues.

As far as Christianity is concerned, speaking in tongues is not compulsory but if you are blessed with the gift

As far as Christianity is concerned, speaking in tongues is not compulsory but if you are blessed with the gift then you use it well to the Glory of God, not compelling everyone to speak.. .the fact is that there are so many fake/false speaking in tongues.

Objection to correct your assertion. You are baptized at Salvation not after salvation.

Necessary but not compulsory.

I was praying with my friend one night and he won't just stop speaking in tongues.

Protameninoko, protana hanapade, yokay, malokay sanatapa. Rebo balia kalia ka dumalia.

I just said Amen and went to bed.

Can't pray with you when I don't know what are you saying.

Followed him to church one day and discovered that the pastor speaks the same thing. My friend obviously crammed it without knowing the meaning

I crammed it too.

your answer to my first question is unsatisfactory and prompts another question for you.

if ur tongued speeches cannot be interpreted or understood by ur hearers, then why speak it?(if its not fake) or are you saying that the spirit of God makes u speak in tongues dat not even one person can understand and interprete?

You are not praying to people, you are praying to God, hence nobody really needs to interprete/understand. You are in a different place. I hardly speak in tongues because most times it seems forced to me, maybe I've not attained that level of spirituality, I don't know. I pray in English, and he answers every single time, I bind and cast in English. cheesy and the devil flees.

That said, people who TRULY speak in tongues do not/ should not know the meaning of what they are saying since they are in the spirit.

I know that in the white garment churches, some people come and speak in tongues and another person interpretes.though, theirs is mostly vision. That's what I watched in one yoruba film sha.

Just thought I should add, the day I was baptized in the holy spirit, I felt it. I cried, I spoke in tongues I didn't care if it made sense or not. But now whenever I try speaking in tongues, if I'm not getting that feeling, I just drop it because I know its not the real deal.

Speaking In tongues comes with a lot of mysteries not yet understood
1..its good for every Christian...the weapon of our warfare is not often in the seen and heard things

2.my experiences have thought me that there is a tongue for every christian and there is the one for ministry like word of knowledge

3.tongues changes according to the revelation of God to the speaker
And mostly according to the spiritual level of the speaker

Yes its The Holghost that enables a person or gives utterances but your language most time will depend on your dept in spirit things

So the guy saying or speaking mesotoria mesotori my be speaking the real
tongues but may be limited in language according to his revelation

Lastly, a person may speak divers tongues when he has it as a gift in ministry, even though he may not have much scriptural dept.
This often comes with interpretation

The interpretation of tongues is another gift one should examine if you want to really understand tongues

These questions really need your answers!!!

1. First understand, there're two (2) kinds of tongues: sign tongue and prayer tongue. Sign tongues is what the Apostles spoke in the day of Pentecost. It was supernaturally given to them by God through the Spirit for the purpose of spreading the word and fulfillment to the prophesy in Joel. If it is not a sign tongue, there's no way a man will speak a language he never learned nor understand and everyone listening to him will understand what he's saying. Also, there's a prayer tongue Apostle Paul taught to the Corinthians. He said this:

New Living Translation
For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.

Here, you speak to God in pray.
No one understand you but people understood what was spoken in Acts
You are talking to God ONLY but in Acts, they were talking to other men
Here is mysterious but in Acts, it was intelligent language

b - The truth is, many do not know the difference and the church had help to abuse\confuse tongues. Paul taught, If you're speaking in tongues IN THE PUBLIC WORSHIP PLACE without no one understanding you and without interpretation, you should keep quiet. People will think it's madness! So he taught, when you pray\speak to God, since no one understand you, do it in your own privacy NOT in the public.

2. No!

3. Spirit controlled but one of the gifts of the Spirit is also self control. The Spirit don't operate like a robot.
