The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Sunday confirmed that 145 Nigerians were killed in the Sept. 24 stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia. More than 769 pilgrims from across the world were confirmed dead and 1,000 injured during the stampede on one of the roads leading to the Jamarat complex (stone throwing site) in Mina.

Briefing newsmen in Mecca in an update, NAHCON’s commissioner in charge of Planning, Research, Information and Library Services, Dr Saleh Okenwa, said that seven of the 42 injured pilgrims were still on admission at various hospitals in Saudi Arabia.

He, however, said that the number of pilgrims earlier declared missing had reduced from 214 to165 following the discovery of additional bodies of some Nigerians killed in the stampede.

On the transportation of pilgrims back to Nigeria, NAHCON’s Commissioner in charge of Operation, Dr Saleh Modibbo, said that more than 60 per cent of the pilgrims had been transported back to the country.

Specifically, he said that 40,850 of the 76,000 Nigerians, who performed the pilgrimage had been transported back to the country. Among those transported back to Nigeria are pilgrims from Kwara, Gombe and Nassarawa states. Modibbo said that the various committees set up by NAHCON helped in processing the pilgrims’ documents and luggage.

The Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar, said while fielding questions from newsmen that the Nigerian mission in Saudi Arabia would continue to monitor the seven injured pilgrims still on admission at various Saudi hospitals even after the Hajj operation.

“We have consistently been monitoring them; the Nigerian mission in Saudi Arabia will continue to monitor them after the hajj operation until they are discharged,’’ he said. Mukhtar said that bodies of the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rights.

He said it was not true that the deceased were buried en masse as speculated in a section of the Nigerian society. The chairman said that the Saudi authorities took finger prints of the deceased and that DNA tests would be conducted on mutilated bodies to ascertain whether those declared missing were dead or alive.

Stampede or not, people died in Mecca. Now did people die in T.B Joshua's Church yes or no? Did Rev.Jim Jones force suicide on his church poeple yes or no? If Yes to the above questions then you are nothing short of being a BIG HYPOCRITE. People die anyday anywhere anytime, making it look as if you are safe in one silly church building when they are records of people also dying in a church building among other atrocities committed in churches is the highest level of hypocrisy. I'm not surprised though coming from a typical selfish christian!

Yes pple died in christain gatherings but how can you compare an accident with certainty?
It is your type that compares illogically.
If by any chance pple die in a church building as T.b joshua's, jones, rev.king or Jerusalem it's very rare and it occurs accidentally. It's never a recurring event wrt many church gatherings everyday around the world.
On the other hand mecca death is very certain, it's sure than a surebet.
Everytime, every year pple must die en-mass.
They died of suffocation, diseases, stampede, many even died trying to stone satan!!
Next year, they are going to do the same thing and die enmasse again.
They've been dying since 600ad, i think pple have to stop and think aloud instead of being killed as sacrifice everyday.

I have given you link showing you stampede causing death in a church service,(every year or not people have died in Churches that's the point), forceful suicide by Rev.Jones on church people, T.B Joshua building collapse killing people or Should I add yesterday's Church stampede in South Africa too. You are still trying to prove that the church is an exception to the rule when it comes to human inactions that have caused deaths and unfortunate events in religious houses abi.

The Saudi authorities have to be blamed, going to die needlessly every year due to some religious ritual is plain stoopid but making this kind of statement below is the apex of HYPOCRISY:

Where are they? Even if BH bombed em, their remains will be found. (165 humans got missing just like that?!) i hope the mecca satan is belle-full now.
May allah grant their relatives the strength to bear the loss.
