I want to categorically say that I am disappointed with the response of many Igbos on this thread.

Firstly, Igbo doesn't start and end in the South East.

Secondly, the area called Onitsha today includes the following places: Ogbaru,Obosi,Nkpor,Nkwelle. How can the Igwe of Onitsha be more important than the Igwes of the aforementioned towns.

Thirdly, every Igbo town is as important. Therefore, we must respect the culture and tradition of others. We mustn't see them as bush people or inferior.

Lastly, Igbos should unite and build a common front. Politics in Nigeria is a game of number. We must unite with our brothers in the so called South south( a geographically impossible location).

Last bullet: no igbo town is superior to the other. Respect!

Anyone that has driven through Onitsha would be very ok with their child not marrying into all that...majesty.
Onitsha should be spoken of humbly. Again, its not Enugu, it's not Aba, it's not PH, and it's not Owerri. As I speak, it's not even the capital of Anambra.
Is it not the interior igbo traders that have spoilt Onitsha city with their die-hard quest for wealth? To build mansion in village and drive big car?
Onitshans are noble and distinguished people who consider "buying and selling spare parts" and apprenticeship beneath them.
If Onitsha leaves Anambra state, half of the goodwill that Anambra enjoys today will be gone, considering the diplomacy that Onitshans are reknowed for from afar.
Re: Obi Of Onitsha Ofala Festival 2015- PHOTOS by chinology: 6:37pm On Oct 13, 2015
Stop replying envious dolts who are only bitter about Onitsha steady advancement and its people ahead of the pack. The city has the biggest multinational economy in Nigeria after Lagos and PH. Onitsha has continued to produce the most educated and fore-runners of the Igbo race since the time of the great Zik of Africa- the first president of Nigeria, Ukpabi Asika, Chike Obi, Akpamgbo, Emeagwali etc. Onitsha is the crown of entire Igbos. This is one city that every Igbo has connection with either your relation is resident, uncle, aunt or your parents are resident. It is the most cosmopolitan city east of the Niger. Onitsha people were the first Igbos to meet the Europeans explorers led by Landers brother even before the berthing of Crowther and his team who settled in the city and propagated their missionary service.

As for Abagworo, u say u are not igbo but just like your demented yoruba friend, we find u on every igbo thread preaching division.

U have been like this for years, sometimes i wonder if u have a life.

Igbo is too big for you and beyond nairaland, u cannot even speak when nwa -afor are speaking.

If not why did you not meet Chino in port harcourt?

You people hate to hear the truth. My only contribution to this thread is the truth but you and Chino et al are busy fighting over what I didn't write. The dangers of these sort of blasphemous statement is what divides Igbos in national politics. We can only move foward if we agree and respect the fact that all Igbo clans are peculiar in their ways and Igbo as an ethnic group has no central King or Emperor that ruled over us all.

As for meeting people, anyone that knows me by chance can tell you my history in terms of ruggedity, real wars experience and success in life. Chino entered buccaneer in UNIZIK and has not outgrown the frenzy of teenage life.

Imagine this jobless old ugly pig talking? I am coming to Ph tomorrow. I will like to see your ruggedity. Imagine this jew man talking about being rugged. grin

How many times have you failed and disappeared each time I land in Ph? cheesy

I am coming to Ph tomorrow because my guy from Unizik is wedding on Saturday and we have committee of friends meeting @ Genesis Place in GRA. Prepare to meet me there. All paid expences..I will take care of everything. Just prepare tomorrow.

Imagine this clown talking about cult? I am well above all those nonsense. I left school over a decade ago and I was a member of anti cult committee of Unizik SUG.

I am not coming for war but I am coming to share a bottle of champagne with you. We need to meet and even laugh over NL stuff. We are meeting in Genesis so no need to be scared.

As for the igbo kingship the Obi of Onitsha is the most influential and most powerful KING in Igboland. Some of may choose to ignore it but it is the fact on ground and I will keep saying it from the roof top.

If you recall how the human psyche works, you wouldn't be disappointed. Why do we have some Igbo communities claiming Bini ancestry? The answer lies in the fact that human beings have this tendency to associate with or honor greatness, most times in an exaggerated manner. Onitsha royal stool has now become the custodian of Igbo culture. This is how it starts. But, fortunately, we are in the modern age. If not, this is the sort of rubbish that goes to become very controversial hundreds of years down the line.

I was born in Onitsha, grew up and went to school in the town. Part of my maternal ancestry is in the town even as i have numerous cousins of Onitsha descent. Having said this, it would be improper to assign to Onicha a history that does not belong to her, even the Obi himself will not accept such.

It is possible that people whose communities are on the periphery of Anambra state or outside it, and who are overly excited about the town, may equally want to cross her historical threshold. This is quite understandable grin

It is not war, we are meeting as gentlemen. For me am a cool guy with my wedding ring on as a married man, so I cannot be seen misbehaving.

We have left Awka now, heading to Onitsha. We will pass through Onitsha-Ughelli-Patani because of that horrible section of Owerri road that links Rivers state.

The Obi of Onitsha, though well-reknowned,is not the foremost King in Igboland nor is he the custodian of Igbo culture.
He's deserving of respect and accolade, but you went overboard with that.
there is no such thing as foremost King in Igboland or custodian of Igbo culture, we are igbos and should stop trying to fit in other peoples way of life into ours. Igbos are the only people that have an adage that says "when a god or deity begins to be troublesome and demand for too much blood, then they will show that god/deity the tree he was carved out from".now how do you colonize such a people or place them under servitude which even their own gods did not succeed in doing? The only one being the igbos owe all allegiance and submission to is the unseen deity they call CHIUKWU OR CHUKWU angry
