Similarly, the motto of the Order of the Garter, the UK’s third most prestigious honor, is written in Old or Middle French, and it is Honi soit qui mal y pense, which translates in English as "shame on him who thinks evil of it." Although the motto is unrecognizable to most modern French speakers because the language has evolved tremendously since the motto was invented, it has remained unchanged.Source: http://www.farooqkperogi.com/2015/10/10-mind-blowing-facts-about-english.html?m=1 Cc: Fulaman198, odumchi, bigfrancis21, lalasticlala |

Everybody can see now that English was originally spoken as pidgin or brokin, because it was the language of the illiterate masses. No wonder the language is so illogical, with uncountable irrational exceptions to it's rules. Yet, we Africans chose to make English our national languages, when it should've been our native dialects or our own pidgin English instead. English language and French is a disaster to Africa. It continues to gradually erode our native African languages. And we are losing our cultures and who we are as a people. For over 2 years, I've been looking for Yoruba keyboard, Igbo keyboard, Hausa keyboard, Bini keyboard, Fulani keyboard, e.t.c. But, they're no where to be found in the market, because nobody use them!. We've abandoned our native languages in favour of a foreign language that was forced down the throats of our forefathers. These days, I wonder whether we're more foolish than our forefathers. At least our forefathers knew they were being enslaved, and they fought back. Our brave fathers in the 50's and 60's also knew they were being colonized, and they fought back. But today, we the new generation of Africans doesn't even know we're gradually being re-colonized. Are we dumber than our forefathers?. It's time we the African people make a U-turn from English language and pay priority attention to our native African languages. Asians have realized their mistakes and have restructured their nations, placing priority to their native languages in schools. |
