Abeg! Every body is is over reacting. I don't think she said anything way off line. Most of the people commenting here haven't even watched the clip. If Alibaba is directing this at Helen, , there's no need. If he feels she is wrong about him not having material, he shud prove her wrong by coming out with way better jokes than Helen can ever think of. If what Helen said pained him that much, it's bcus there's a bit of truth in it. Nobody appreciates "has beens" so he shudnt dwell on his past achievements nd he should try to come out with new materials. Cus frankly, I think Helen was right. His jokes are not funny, so I wonder why he calls himself father of Nigeria’s comedy industry. All these comedians sef....they can't take it when the joke's on them

IMHO helen paul didnt take her jokes too far...if anyone did, it was gordons who went to personal. i hope alibaba isn't referring to her because they (comedians alibaba inclusive) had often joked, throwing all sorts of jibes at each other and at other people including past presidents, pastors etc and yet none of this people ever took them seriously....because they were jokes!!

was it not a joke? Alibaba why taking it so personal? She said whatever she not in secret but in public to entertain her listeners. That she said whatever she said in public shows that she was not serious and did no mean it. I can still remember when Basket mouth finished Shegun Arinze right in the presence of Shegun and Shegun was seen engulfed with uncontrollable laughter. Alibaba, abeg free dat lady and laugh it out after all u guys joke with our politicians and they still invite u for shows.

These s called comedians cannot take a simple joke when it's on them! What of Tuface that nearly all the comedians in Nigeria have thrown nasty jibes at yet he never took any of it seriously! As far as I'm concerned Helen didn't say anything out of line and she was yabbing the comedians themselves never reffered to their family/loved ones but Gordons took it too personal and crossed the line by bringing her husband into the jabs!
Same Gordons that yabbed the hell out of Linda Ikeji! Gordons is childish he was even insulting/cursing not yabbing!
If you can't take it don't give it!

guys are just taking alibaba's humility for granted, I have interacted with alibaba on three occasions and i can tell you, he is a rare gem, the fact that he allows other comedians grow on his platform does not mean he should be taken as a fool, none of these comedians can boast of the network that alibaba has. Look at his radio program on nigerian info, it has become a platform for others to grow in their career, most times he is not even in the studio to present by himself but allows others to do it, I know a regular caller on his program who has also join them in presenting the program, that is alibaba for you, allowing others to grow which is so rare to find in most nigerians now.

Am so disappointed in helen paul if this is true, you don't castigate those who paved the way for you but of course this is Nigeria where we don't really respect ourselves

He is the acknowledged Godfather of Comedy in Nigeria. Nobody can contest his crown.


That said, if Helen Paul said those things as a joke, then he should leave it at that. I recently watched a clip of an A.Y show where Gordons ripped Lepkacious Bose to shreds. It was a no holds bar attack. He went at her size, her boooobies and her broken marriage. She was sitting in the audience and was laughing her ass off. It may have hurt her, but she rolled with it. I am sure she is planning her payback. That's what comedy is all about. Find somebody and rip on them.

If she said it as a beef track, then Fhuck her.. The biitch has not racked up enough Stage time to go at the big dogs.

Maybe in Yoruba land but Ali Baba branded comedy as a viable career path in Nigeria and took Nigerian comedy across the border.

I would ask around for the Gbenga Adewusi fellow here down south but I doubt people know him.
