When people are doing hatchets they should at least belie their motives. You waited patiently for Amaechi's enemies to establishe a petition against him but you see Amaechi's right to defense as a mere magnanimity of your committee. It is preposterous in the first place for the Senate to be entertaining cases that are already before a court of competent jurisdictions. These people are wasting our precious time and resources. This is a matter the Senate is constitutionally forbidden to make any pronouncement on. Will the Senate now say based on your political enemies recommendation we will not allow you to serve your fatherland as requested by Mr. President. Will the Senate also stop the Rivers state Senators from functioning when and if National Human Right Commission submit petitions on live killings of APC supporters by PDP thugs? The killings were aired live from Okrika - we do not even need to start looking for evidences; videos are on youtube. This case is purely judicial and can only be settled through judicial procedures. The only pronouncements that are regarded as law from the Assembly are bills that have been dully processed. Anyway, this is one of the styles of the usual suspect Senator Saraki; he is adopting leverage against his numerous graft cases before various courts of the land. This committee task is a waste of public fund irrespective of their recommendations; recommendations that will only be advisory and lack legal weight. Onye Oso Ahia... |

Ameachi is already confirmed whether the sponsor, motivator or designer of this plot against APC, Buhari and Amaechi likes it or not. Amaechi is going there to work for Nigeria and not failed party because they know if is cleared he will be a blockage and leakage to their evils perpetrated during the last 6 years of former govt. Am not surprised seeing state judiciary turns to a machine against a leader who was the pillar of then opposition to d federal in d state. Feaar of revenge of what they did to him before d election! |

ndcide:Does a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria have immunity against prosecution? No, so you guys should slow down your desperation. We all know this is a pound of flesh for BETRAYING his region. Will the whole nation sit and watch such myopic and ethnocentric position sail through? Next week shall tell. |

anytexy:Yeah. Just like the devil, he wanted to be above God, he wanted to elevate his throne above that of the most high but he forgot one thing, the highest political post one can attain in Nigeria is that of the President which GEJ has attained. Amaechi is just wasting his time |

Mrbigman1:You ought to know that their grouse with Amaechi is born out of the fact that they see him as a traitor who sold away his kinsman. One thing I know is Amaechi will be minister come next week. |

Ghandi12:With all these your grammar you and your master couldn't go and defend yourself in front of the committee of inquiry set up, you did not hand over, now the court you closed for nearly two years you have gone there to seek for protection, is this not ignominious. Why has EFCC and ICPC not invited Amaechi yet, because they already known how corrupt he is, you guys should just nominate another person because even if Amaechi is force down the throat of Nigerians , Buhari's Government fight against corruption is already dead on arrival. |

For your own information mr hater of amaechi, ministerial position is not an elective position that the people of states determines who becomes a miniter or not, and the appointment of a minister is the sole discretion of mr president to choose whoever he deemed fit to serve our amiable country with.and in this case mr president has choosen amaechi as the man from rivers that will serve this great country with him, so what is your problem? Whether you like it or not amaechi will be confirmed minister on tuesday mark my words. Democracy is government for d people, by the people.[s][/s] If the people Amechi is representing have come out openly to reject him, why are Apc fighting tooth and nail to force him in? There is going to be a sure misrepresentation.
|

People, I humbly request that anybody/organisation that has any proofs against Amaechi should approach the relevant agencies empowered by the constitution to treat such. Every accused is presumed innocent until convicted by appropriate courts/institutions. How does not screening Amaechi by the senate as prayed by wike&co redress the alleged looting and recklessness of Amaechi. |

This petitions was released long time ago, and a copy sent to Buhari. I have no idea why Mr. president who said he've come to fight corruption went ahead to nominate Amechi for minister. Amechi's crimes are documented, so what evidence again do they need to disqualify him?. |
| Re: Senators Not Divided Over Amaechi – Anyanwu by ndcide(m): 11:55am On Oct 17, 2015 |
philips70:May I tell you that those basing our outcry on amaechi simply on betrayal are being narrow minded. It is absolutely a corruption issue especially since most of us knew how Amaechi obscenely diverted money from the state treasury. Amaechi was not the only person who supported buhari from the region. Governor osheomole did. Although he didn't temper with the minds of his people the way amaechi did. But they are within their right to support anyone. But looting the treasury is adding salt to an injury and we all saw it. Again the president president is a direct beneficiary of diverted state funds and he knows it and they want to fight corruption. You people shouldn't make this issue look like it's recent. Petitions have been sent to the efcc, icpc and buhari himself with evidence. This is exclusive of what ever the state government is doing. All amaechi 's defense is that, they are all from wike but it's a lie. Look, James ibori had ex convict case against him. The case was pushed by deltans. This is an aside. There are issues of corruption. You people want us to look at Alison maduake, but don't want us to question amaechi at all. Simply for APC reasons. This is not good. It's unacceptable, unfortunate and disgusting. We're just trying to help buhari fight corruption. He should stop pussyfooting. |

samuel anyanwu is really representing the people of owerri zone and ikeduru well in the house, despite the fact that he is a first timer. PDP members will be happy for this position given to Sam daddy as the chairman of the committee. |

ndcide:The desperation beclouds the veracity of your claims. What is the relationship of this petitions with his clearance by the senate as a nominated minister? I have asked before and I will ask again, does being a minister confer immunity on someone? Isn't it glaring that all these petitions will cease immediately Amaechi is dumped by the president? Most of us are not as far as you think about the issues and feelings of some people about Amaechi, his membership of APC and his roles in the enthronement of Buhari. The height of deception here is trying to insulate your bile against Amaechi from his role in dethroning Jonathan and at the same time court Odili the man who should face more heat for his 8yr rule. How many outcry and petitions did we see against Odili even up till this moment? It is not a crime to be angry and wanting to punish Amaechi over his support of Buhari over his "brother" but you guys should be man enough to own it and let the whole nation who he wants to serve join in judging him. Let me restate my interest that I will not flinch an eyelid if Amaechi is found guilty tomorrow and sent to jail but this current desperation that seems to satisfy some equally treacherous few will never get my support and will continue to air my view about it. |

philips70:Smh... And you want saraki jailed? Abeg we are talking about corruption please. Osheomole supported buhari too. Amaechi 's level of corruption doesn't deserve ministerial compensation. Especially for a falsely claimed "anti-corruption / change" Let's be reasonable. |
| Re: Senators Not Divided Over Amaechi – Anyanwu by frankwyte: 1:01pm On Oct 17, 2015 |
I think what Amaechi cleverly did was to avoid d investigation and run to a court to grant him lee way from being stopped to becoming minister. And trust me he will get it! But if we the Senator we will go on with d investigation after d court exercise to proof his innocence... |
| Re: Senators Not Divided Over Amaechi – Anyanwu by philips70(m): 1:04pm On Oct 17, 2015 |
ndcide:Saraki will not be jailed because anyone apart from the courts say so. If people are convicted and jailed because some disgruntled people say so, I bet you not many politicians will be out of jail today including Tinubu, Jonathan, Wike etc. We know you people's desperation and it will not work this time. |

philips70:Ok, Whats my own? If amaechi is protected by the president then, corruption wins. You can keep defending corruption. Buhari will be embarrassed. when we put a microphone to his mouth and ask him about amaechi. His reply will be placed with the fact and presented to the world. He'll have to defend that, the rest of his life. The earlier he stopped playing the ostrich, the better. nice day. I'm done here. |

kaycid77:Amaechi is not mandated to attend any inquisition veiled as an inquiry. The comportment of the abrasive judge of that "inquiry" already exposed Wike's plans. Before any of the loads of evidence was tendered the Judge had already pronounced Amaechi guilty and worthy of a jail term. That same judge had been a vociferous opponent of Amaechi from the moment he left PDP for APC. This is is the Judge who so obtusely flaunted how long ago he had been a lawyer for, instead of letting a witness speaking against Ameachi to be cross-examined. The same kangaroo inquiry where we saw witnesses being induced and sometimes cajoled to give false testimony. That's the one you wanted Amaechi to stand before. You must be kidding like baby Goats. As for the rest of your humdrum on him closing the courts and PMBs anti-corruption war, I leave you to the rest of your fellow ignoramuses to keep dancing palongo with Open-bar gists. Those of us who see beyond the red mist are fully behind the nomination of this Field Marshall of the common-sense revolution- Rotimi Amaechi. |

ndcide:Blackmail is never encouraged in a progressive society. If indeed Amaechi is guilty nobody will save him. I wonder why the sudden agents of anti corruption in the Niger Delta are silent on Uduaghan, if Amaechi is a thief, Uduaghan is a highway robber. Why is nobody shouting about Ochendo? Amaechi will be a minister, he deserves it like every other minister we have had. He is excellently brilliant and will bring a lot to his ministry. We will not allow some pained few to dictate the way we want to go in the journey to liberate Nigeria from where the same people took us to. Nice day...am done here too. |
