The defending champions Nigeria will look to continue their stupendous match results when the take on Croatia in Estadio Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso, Coquimbo on Saturday 24th of October 2015 after attaining a tremendous 5-1 win over the tournament hosts in their recent group stage encounter.

A goal from captain Kelechi Nwakali plus a brace from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze brought hosts Chile to their feet as they crashed 5-1 at the Estadio SausalitoVina Del Mar on Wednesday morning.

Although Marcelo Allende got one for the South Americans with nine minutes to the end of the game, that could not inspire a comeback as the rampaging Nigerians have now secured a place in the second round of the competition.

Tuesday signalled the beginning of the second round of group-stage matches of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015, from which Nigeria and Korea Republic emerged as the first qualifiers for the knockout stages. It was a day of breakthrough achievements all round, such as the first goal from a free-kick and the fastest goal of the tournament so far. FIFA.com looks back on an eventful set of matches.

USA and Croatia served up the day’s most entertaining encounter, a 2-2 draw that had fans on the edge of their seats but that left neither party satisfied in the cold light of day.

Although the Stars and Stripes, inspired by an excellent Christian Pulisic, who scored the first goal and then set up the second, appeared to have things wrapped up by half-time, the Croatians fought their way back into the match after the break. The Balkan side even had chances to snatch a winner, but instead struck the woodwork on several occasions.

In Group A’s other match, hosts Chile were no match for an impressive Nigeria, who struck twice in the early stages at the Estadio de Sausalito. The Africans then continued to press, eventually running out 5-1 winners versus a Chilean team that, despite tremendous support from the home crowd, struggled to compete with the defending champions.

In Group B, a flash of set-piece genius from Leandro sealed a 1-0 victory for Brazil and provided the South Americans with their first points of the tournament, versus an England XI that created worthwhile opportunities but lacked a killer instinct in front of goal.

Korea Republic, meanwhile, left it extremely late against a profligate Guinea, advancing to the Round of 16 courtesy of a stoppage-time strike from Oh Sehun.

FIFA U-17 World Cup: Nigeria Plots Revenge Against Croatia

Though already through to the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015, Golden Eaglets have predicted a tough match between Nigeria and Croatia at the Estadio Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso in
Coquimbo.

As recent as September 6, Croatia beat Nigeria 3-2 in an acrimonious encounter at the 2015 Suwon U-17 Invitational Tournament in Korea but the Golden Eaglets reckoned it would be pay back time on Friday.

"We were unlucky against Croatia in Suwon because we were leading them 2-1 until few minutes to the end of the match," recalled defender John Lazarus."They got a penalty to equalize and the winning goal later and that stopped us from winning the tournament .

"We won't allow that to happen against uson Fridayand we will work harder to win," added the diminutive defender who was in the U-13 National Team that won the London International Youth Tournament in 2010.

The two matches in Group A would be played simultaneously on Friday at 12:00 midnight Nigerian time (8:00pm local Chilean time) with the three other teams needing a win to have a realistic chance of
progressing to the Round of 16 along with Nigeria.

The goalkeeper is better than Alampasu of 2 years ago; and this set defend better than Iheanacho et al set.

It will be interesting to see how the eaglets cope with the height of the Croats. Unlike the Chileans, the eaglets will be challenged in the aerial battle.
