Recently, many of South Africa’s universities have been hit by protests, some of them violent, by students demanding that the increase in tuition fees be scrapped. This is the latest in a series of student demonstrations that have gripped South Africa this year. All the universities have been shut down nationwide, economic activities paralyzed. Some are reportedly injured. President Jacob Zuma is set to make nationwide announcement and address the protesting students any moment from now.
