Yorubas and Northerners have ruled Nigeria for almost 50 yeas out of 55, why haven't they brought back regionalsm in all that time?

Regionalism or confederalism will not only drastically reduce the political power of the North, it will also greatly reduce their federal Government subventions as well because of resource control.

Therefore, they will never agree to a confederation or regionalism. The North is most likely going to fight a war than let this happen. Anyone hoping for regionalism or resource control in Nigeria is wasting their time. The only solution is Biafra or Niger-Delta Republic

The constitution forms the legal basis of anything to be done within a sovereign state.

People were clamouring for things that are not in tandem with the constitution, how will.it work? How.

The first thing was to amend the constitution to recognise voting on.the resolutions of the confab, which is not.in this constitution. Except you will pass it through the National Assembly, which will of course be killed.

We can as well save money and ask the National Assembly to deliberate on the issues on our behalf.

The USA is not made up of 'indigenous' people. So, their unitary system of Government cannot apply to Nigeria which is made up of indigenous tribes. The only indigenous people in the USA are the aboriginal Indians and even they were granted their own 'communes' or Reservations as they call it where they practice full resource control and political autonomy and represent maybe 1% of the population. What is unification and what is unitarism.

The whole essence of clamouring for secession or resource control is dependent on devolution of power.

Pre-1966, power resides with the regions. Ironsi took the power away from the region and centralised, though he left the region's as the unit of governance. He is therefore the architect of today's anarchy that all of you are shouting about that "they do not want us to go".

I believe that a confederation would have been the best option however, it would have still led to secession. Personally, I don't think there's any hope for Nigeria.
