Brooklynsouth:I doubt if you are really a girl. But if you are, how much? You know what am talking about o, because that is what your people are good at. Hypocrite like you. I want Nigeria to remain one because that was the wish of our founding fathers and according to our national anthem, "The Labour of Our Heros Past, Shall Never be Invain". I know you were not brought up to respect your elders, thats why i wont be angry with you. I have accepted that as a cross every Nigerian must carry for the Igbos. |

bolajJP007:Your heroes' labours was murdering close to 1000000 children in a Biafra/Nigeria war which should not have been fought if Nigeria's leaders then were honest even to themselves. @lyng, you have no sense of history of formation of nation states. In the next one million years, the three largest ethnic groups forced into Nigeria country can never form a nation. Leaving them to continue to exist in one Nigeria implies more and more deaths of innocent people till thy kingdom come. |

ekafine:I dont know where you are from, i would have been able to tell you some truth about yourself. Now, to what you said, that the Igbos face reality, WHO TOLD YOU THAT? If they do, they would have realised that biafra was a loss cause. Biafra, was the brain child of a man who doesnt want to lose out because he saw that a younger northern was in a position of power, and felt that since the power has left him people(Ironsi), the best way to go was to seccede and be in absolute power in a new republic(biafra). Like i told one of them(biafrans) they were not brought up to listen to and respect elders, if not, most of the elders of eastern region were not killed(they were actually spared by the coup plotters as against leaders of other regions), why did he not consult them for advice because I BELIEVE, H.E Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sam Mbakwe, Ozumba Mbadiwe etc would have strongly advice against going to war. If they face facts, they would have realised that the best time to agitate for seccession was during Jonathan, who was a weak president, but they didnt, they refused to because they were in control of the government and felt it will be so forever. If they face facts, they would have realised that Jonathan's government was never going to win the last election, but they decided to play ethnic politics at the wrongest time. Now, to the Yorubas that you mentioned, i believe you have not been to Ibadan recently, because the pictures you displayed was the pictures of old Ibadan. That was what made it become the LARGEST CITY IN WEST AFRICA, and second only to Cairo in AFRICA. Ibadan was a little london to all Nigerians before the military introduced the unitary system of government. If you know the history of Nigeria, you will know that Ibadan has always been a pace-setter. Since the discovery of crude-oil, the developmental progress in Nigeria that been in decline. You will realise that its only in the West that government changes hand like its done in developed countries, apart from lagos, everyother state in the West has experienced both the PDP and APC(AD, AC, ACN) and can proudly tell you which government is better. To states owing salaries, its not peculiar to Osun alone but almost all states in the federation. If Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Delta states can owe salary, then you are an Hypocrite for calling Osun.(if you can comprehend what i mean. |

bolajJP007:Demand for Biafra peaked during the administration of Jonathan. Perhaps you live in Mars. There may be more Yorubas today clamouring for secession from Nigeria than Igbos clamouring for Biafra, you may not even know that, because there are a few Yorubas like you who believe that crude oil is all there is for a country to survive. You do not understand that the most rich countries of the world today have no crude oil, one of them, Switzerland, is landlocked. |

bolajJP007:I being a core Imo State man is not part of their Biafra but what you wrote up there about Ojukwu and civil war is wrong. Many Igbos have misinterpreted Ojukwu's action based on modified history. If Igbos were not killed across Nigeria, there would never Have been a Biafra. Ojukwu declared the then Eastern region as Biafra to serve as a safe zone for Igbos who were running from other parts of Nigeria. |

discusant:You lied. There was no agitation for biafra during the Jonathan regime. Uwazurike was so vocal during Obasanjo regime but lost him voice during Jonathan. Be sincere with yourselves and your conscience. Meanwhile, there was nowhere in my post that i said crude-oil is all we need to survive. I only to you about the downfall of Nigeria and the day development stopped in Nigeria was the day Ironsi introduced the Unitary System of Government. |

Abagworo:I respect your views and cant argue with you. You see, there are many sides to the civil war story, and everybody tells the one that suits them. Personally, i like Ojukwu as a person, but a the originator of the biafran civil war, i dont respect him. Note, there is a difference between like and respect. |

lygn19:My guy you tried but you have to understand something I have never been in support of biafra but other tribes made to have 110 % support for biafra this will educate Urhobo Eulogizes Igbo, Says Igbo are The salt of The nation how Much Respect Do You Show Igbos?I am not Igbo. I am proud of my Urhobo. However, as a student of history, I wish to show just what these great people came/come against and yet thrive. Okay, the incessant killings in the North will be glossed over so as to make this article not overly long. The civil war will also not be discussed. However, post civil war, as I explained in my post MINORITY REPORT: THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED AGAINST YOU, the rich in Nigeria have major roots in the Indegenization decree of 1972 and 1977.I reminded how the banks gave people of other tribes, predominantly Hausas and Yorubas loans to by up companies owned by foreigners. Now imagine the Federal government forced Chevron to sell 51 percent of its shares and that Access Bank will give you loans to buy the shares. How rich will you be in a year? 5 Years? That is how many Yorubas and Hausas got to own UAC, all those Dunlop, Leventis, Cadbury etc. Now while this was ongoing, Gowon told the Nigerian banks to give TOPS twenty naira to any Igbo man that had money in the bank before the war. That is, if you had 5 naira before the war, you will be given the 5 naira. But if you had a hundred naira, you get just twenty naira in full fulfilment of the banks duty to give you your money. Ask yourselves “why would the banks give Igbos only twenty naira? Did the banks collapse? So why pay less than you were given? So while the banks were giving loans to Hausa and Yorubas to buy Oyibo companies they did not build, Igbos were being cheated out of their rightful moneys. Now not also that these people lost Houses and business across the land. It is safe to say that as at 1970/71. the richest Igbo had 20 naira that may be the equivalent of maybe one million. Let us look at how Dangote made his money. He Dangote (a great man and pride to Nigeria) has an uncle called Dantata who owned huge chunks of the groundnut pyramids of the 50’s and 60’s. He gave Dangote a loan and Dangote paid it back in record time. CLAP CLAP. The add that Dangote has had his “brothers” in government, from IBB to Abacha and Abdulsalaam. When they now agreed to democracy, he was rich enough to have funded Obasanjo and so government policies, be it monopoly afforded him for rice, sugar flour and of course a large share of subsidy etc ensures he is the wealthiest Nigerian. (note many had same opportunity but did not use it. We kowtow to Dangote’s investment capabilities)However, for the Igbo man, where will he see an uncle that will loan him money? The richest man in their family has how much as at then? So while Fani Kayode can inherit property of his father and grandfather and great grand father, a Chidi Cali cannot inherit anything from his grandfather who had business in Kano or even Port Harcourt. Neighbours have made his dad’s storey building theirs, and even someone as educated as Saro Wiwa lived in an Igbo war emigrant house as his. (a sore point of the Niger Delta and Igbo Unity) WAEC building was Ojukwu’s dad’s building and like that building, thousands and the land with it….lands worth billions today were taken from Igbos and each and every Igbo had tops 20 naira, destroyed homeland, stolen and destroyed wealth away from the east. also his brother is never president that will give him oil block or fuel lifting. Of 33, only one Igbo man and because he was in Obasanjo’s good graces. YET LOOK HOW PROUD THEY STAND TODAY!!! Look what they have achieved for themselves….FIRST GENERATION WEALTH…top second generation. From being unable to send their first sons to school so he could help look after the shop, to producing first class brains in all departments of modern learning. So today, as you accuse Igbos of wanting their Biafra or of Baby Factory, or liking money and ready to do anything for money, remember that just forty years ago, while the banks were dashing your uncles loans to buy all the companies of Nigeria, it stole from the Igbos. Know that appointments have not favoured them. Note that they remain persecuted and many speak such ill and hate towards a people forced by need to survive to be extra-aggressive towards their sustenance. Maybe if you took their history into consideration, you will not be so critical of them, but instead say “what a resilient people” and give God the glorythat FOR NOW, we and such a great people are compatriots. bolajJP007:Ironsi's unitary government system had 50% derivation going to areas where resources were derived. The federating regions still were left. Your Arewa masters your southwest helped defeat Biafra later restructured Nigeria to the way it suits them. With numerous undue states and political representation constituencies which Arewa soldiers created in the north with foul use of land mass as criterion, unitary government system was further strengthened by them, because through the fraudulent number of states and political representation constituencies in the north, Arewa takes home more of Nigeria's revenues and determine who presides over Nigeria. |

bolajJP007:If you were in Ojukwu's shoes what would you have done. The killing of Igbos across Nigeria was backed by Gowon Government instead of arresting and prosecutung those killing Igbos. The creation of Rivers and Southeastern States was simply to turn minorities against Igbos just like the rest of Nigeria. It made the minorities see Igbos as occupiers and Northerners as liberators while the issue that lead to secession had nothing to do with resource control. Let me give you an example using Edo state where the Bini is majority with other tribes like Afemai, Esan and Ijaw. 10 Edos out of a population of over 4 million were involved in killing of top politicians from other tribes in Nigeria and the rest of the country went astray and started killing every Edo in their domain and they ran back to Edo State in millions. The Edo Governor now declared Edo a separate country to protect its people from total annihilation. FG knowing fully well that there are other tribes in Edo now hurriedly created Esan State and Afemai State narrowing the crisis to Bini ethnic group. The Afemai and Esan now saw Bini as occupiers and teamed up with FG to free themselves. That is what played out in the civil war. Every other stories you read and hear are politics that came to play during the war. |

I hope you guy know biafra in Nigeria will be like Lesotho in South Africa. It will be a very stupid mistake your children will cause you for. All your shop owners in Lagos and other part of Nigeria will need permit to do anything in Nigeria. Your right to bringing in fake drug and fake spare parts will be lost thereby making Nigeria a better nation. Your business men will become broke as there will be no market for all there imported goods. You guy refuse to realize that Nigeria is a great nation with or without Igbos. Have you even tot of how you will start life as a biafran? YourLife would be worst than that of Togo. |

This should be moved to the front page so that the stand of Imo State people should be known. Imo State suffered the highest casualty in the Biafran war and till today still has the most number of pro-Biafra communities but this latest Biafra has put us off because it has political undertone and consists mostly of PDP supporters who are minority in Imo State. I will be proved right once again when these people are attacked by Imo citizens in support of APC should they attempt to disrupt businesses. |

chinology:Statements like this are the reason Anambra (and perhaps Enugu) just might be on their own in the quest for their own country. You'll be hard-pressed to find an Igbo man from any other state arguing about superiority unprovoked (usually by people from a certain axis). I don't care which southern country we join - Niger Delta, Cameroon whatever, as long as we aren't part of a dysfunctional country where religious war is imminent and the least contributors believe they have the birthright of leadership. Nnamdi Kanu better check that he has the support of other Igbo states before embarking on what might be a futile endeavour. It is not a given that all Igbo groups are in support of secession at this time or led by him. |
