Unanswered Question In The Bible That Needs To Be Cleared by deekaybeatz(m): 8:55am On Oct 24, 2015
The Bible made us to know that Adam and Eve are the first man and woman on earth. When Cain killed Abel the Bible also told us that Cain ran away and when he ran away he got married to a woman. Now the question is, who are the parents of the lady Cain married and how does that justify the fact that Adam was the first man on earth

It was a spiritual thing . . Cain was simply in the spirit as he thought he married somewhere . #TongueIsOut

it was clear that he married his sister. He became a fugitive according to the bible.
In the story of the prodigal son, the bible also said he went far away, yet he came back. The world at the time wasn't as open as it is today. They trekked all the way, which demonstrates that he couldn't have gone too far away from home.

I hope you remember that in those ancient times of the Old Testament (and even in world history) it was common for siblings to marry each other. Everybody at that time was a descendant of Adam and Eve, so Cain basically married a relative. Adam lived for 930 years, so you can imagine how many children, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren (and great great grand...etc etc etc) that he had.

By the way...
“And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and he called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.”

Jst so you know, the Bible never said he found the woman when he ran away to the land of Nod. It just said he knew her there.

know someone in the biblical way/sense: to have had sex with someone (MacMillan dictionary definition)

Cain knew his wife in Nod..so she conceived and bore Enoch (you understand this, right?). So he already married her before he ran away

Does this make sense to you now?

Nobody knows how open the world was as of then. It's also possible he may have gone to a neighboring land and back because I can't find where the bible said he came back

the bible said he wondered or became a fugitive. Regardless of how open the world was we believe he took a wife from Adam's offspring. Of you don't believe that, then you should also refute the theory that there was Adam in the first place. And why wouldn't you believe Adam was the first creature when the bi le says so? Are you Atheist? If you believed Adam existed, is cos the bible told you so. If u believed Adam was the first man, then Cain was one of the first sons of the first man. There shouldn't be a question of existence of other human parents. Therefore, his wife could have been his niece. The bible never mentioned how many kids Adam had and the time Cain took his wife. She could have been one of his sisters or his nieces.
Also note, God told Adam to be fruitful n fill the earth, hence he may have continued producing offsprings that one could have been a wife/sister to Cain

Nice think... So if you can conclude that it was his sister he knew with no back up evidence, can I conclude that it was his mother he knew?

So God who hates incest didn't have a plan on how to populate the world but through the much dreaded incest?

It could also mean she knew her when he got to Nod. You are only interpreting it to suit your opinion

The fact that the Bible stated that everyone descended from Adam is enough evidence to prove that the woman in question was [at least] a sister [or a niece]. Concluding that it was his mother is just absurd and farfetched cos..well..his mother was Eve.

For your 2nd part,

"And where there is no law there is no sin." (Romans 4:15)

God hadn't made any law forbidding incest until the days of Noah or Moses, when humanity started abusing it to immoral extents. In other words, the act wasn't wrong then, at least, it was even marital between them.

Even if that's what it means, it doesn't change anything really. Cain and Abel were born a long time before Abel's death.

“And in the course of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to the Lord.” (Genesis 4:3)

Adam and Eve later had another son named Seth, and at that time, Adam was 130 years old (see Genesis 5:3), and Eve saw him as a “replacement” for Abel (see Genesis 4:25). This means the period between Cain's birth to Abel's death may have been 100+ years. That is more than enough time for the descendants of Adam to spread round the world even (so some could have situated in Nod)

So yes, he could have found her in Nod and known her there (like you said). It won't change anything. That would only make her a descendant of Adam (sister or niece) who lived in the land of Nod before she met him.

That is why you can go and check out the Hebrew word used for "knew" in that passage and see if he was just saying it to suit his opinion or not.

Using your own logic, it means that Cain could not be said to be guilty of killing Abel since there was no law forbidden him from killing Abel as at then, remember that "thou shall not kill" was a law given to Moses not to Adam.

Haha! Nope...
I knew someone would ask this. But what you fail to have noticed is that there was actually law against murder even at that time

You know a law must not be explicitly stated. It could also be implied or inferred. If a law says, "Do X", obviously, it can also be interpreted as "Do not do the direct opposite of X"...

God ordered them to "be fruitful and multiply". Cain killing Abel was in direct contradiction and disobedience to that law; he was "subtracting" someone from the circle of life smiley

Law against murder existed ever since bro

Be Fruitful and Multiply is not same as thou shall not kill.
