Ezeagu, this conversation, i believe is anchored on the premise that Ekpeye, Etche and Ikwerre are NOT IGBOS?

Let me just understand what you're saying, are you saying those groups aren't Igbo? Because I'm saying that they fundamentally are and are seen as such in Rivers. Just checking.

Deltagiant. I understand the point you are making.

Coming hard on those Igbophobic SS people, might chase away the few pro Igbo ones amongst them.

But sometimes, it's just too hard avoiding these false allegations against Ndiigbo emanating from those quarters, and it would appear that it's impossible dispelling those falsehoods without hurting the sensibilities of the pro Igbo ones amongst them.

It's really a dilemma.

No, Ekpeye, Ikwerre, Etche and Ogba are more comfortable with the IGBOID tag than Igbo- go figure.

In Rivers, only Ndoki, Asa, Ndoni( to an extent), Egbema, identifies as Igbo. And this is because, Egbema has a significant part of their people in Imo state, while Asa and Ndoki have the majority of their people in Abia, Ndoni has strong attachment to Ogbaru and Anioma.

If Asa, Ndoki and Egbema people had all their people in Rivers state, I am sure they would have joined the IGBOID club by now.

Forget it. If you've ever gone to the SS, you'd know why people like Abagworo would advice you to just concentrate on an Igbo republic. I'm sure there are even Kanuri people who wouldn't mind joining and protesting for Biafra if you sold it to them well enough. I hope you understand what I mean by that statement. An indifferent attitude towards even a sense of unity is enough to tell you about what would come in bad times.

I've never heard Igboid as an identity before, anyway the point was that they are branded as Igbo in Rivers state, especially in politics so them being in a Biafra protest does not indicate the sentiments of non-Igbo eastern Nigerians, because Igbo or 'Igboid', they are Igbo at the end of the day.

I know those ethnic groups wella. If you look at my signature, you will know that I have always been a proponent of Republic of Alaigbo.

It's my first choice. Biafra is only an alternative.

My brother

You are making the same mistake Ojukwu made with oil wealth

If sacrificing PH will speed up Biafra actualization, so be it. cool

You have to understand that
The restoration of Biafra has nothing to do with oil wealth
It is not even really about freedom from the so called nigeria or the other groups that makeup nigeria
This is far deeper than what ordinary people can understand

People will understand what I said when Biafra is finally restored

Not at all. Infact mere suggestion that they are Igbo at the end of the day, is enough to see them conjuring up images of you wanting to exterminate them and steal their oil, as a matter of fact, it's the worst crime you will ever commit. Calling them Igbo to them simply translates to the rest of Ndiigbo wanting to share their oil wealth with them or simply outrun them and seize their oil wealth.

That's how bleeped up their mentality are.

If you want to be their friends, call them Ikwerre, Etche, Ogba, Ekpeye, it gives them a sense of security, an assurance that they won't get over run by the hordes of invaders in SE waiting to take their land from them.

you made sense.
If we want to get an all igbo state me must be ready to be very diplomatic and make lots compromise.
The truth is that those Igbo groups in rivers state are comfortable with the present structure of the country.

They have have their oil revenue, they are majority in rivers. They have numerical and academic advantage over the riverine people.

Therefore any talk of Biafra puts a sense of fear in them. The fear of being stampeded and outcompeted by mainland Igbos.

The challenge is how to allay these fears. This is where the service of great leaders like late Nnamdi Azikiwe is needed. People who understand the sensibilities of these groups.

Therefore to reach out to them we must make serious concessions like in the area of resource control . We must enter into serious agreement with their leaders and assure them of a stake in biafra. We must convince them that biafra will belong to all. Then you will see them have serious thought about biafran agenda. Going by past experiences. The next step Northerners in power will take to neutralize this Biafran popularity is to meet the leaders of these groups and make more concessions to them (maybe in the area of resource control) but if we do it before them they will take us more serious.

Recently Tonyebarcanista and Truckpusher expressed their displeasure over the case of IPOB protest in PH

They are angry and afraid that we renamed PH Igweocha in order to claim it

PH is a city the Ikwerres Ijaws and Ogonis have laid claim to. It is also one of the reasons Saro Wiwa and Isaac Boro betrayed Biafra

My fellow Biafrans, if the price we must pay to get the support of the Riverine people is to allow them take full ownership of PH even if they plan to make it a city in Nigerdelta Republic, so be it.

We can build better cities that can never be rival by PH and it is absolute stupidddd to allow a piece of land stop our match to freedom the way Ojukwu allowed his fears of neocolonialism stopped him from exchanging oil for weapons with the Russians

Finally as a true Biafran representing Ojukwu's elite force, I hereby ask Nnamdi Kanu to forfeit PH for Biafra's sake

A piece of land must never divide us at this point in it

God bless Biafrans

Good night dear Biafrans cool

Heap of bullshit!

Is Biafra going to be a partnership where one party is cheated or a partnership where truth and fairness is enforced? If the former is the case they should fking go to hell.

Portharcourt's original name was Igweocha.
There's Ikwerre part and there's Okrika part and the natives know where the boundaries are.

If Biafra becomes a country, Ikwerre part would be renamed Igweocha if Ikwerres agree or go with Igbo Portharcourt and the other part Ijaw Portharcourt with both sides administered separately by the Igbo Province and the Ijaw Province or by Biafra and by Nigeria depending on how we end up.

This is not unusual. We have Niagara Falls, Canada and Niagara Falls, USA; and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan and Lloydminster, Alberta both in Canada and some other cases where a city is shared by different states/provinces.

You don't understand the mindset of those people. Nothing the Igbo man do will ever seem right to them.

I personally don't fancy PH, the city is over rated.

But know this, if you concede PH to those people, they will still find a way to assign negative connotations to your act of leaving PH for them. They will make up crazy dumbfounding negative stories as to why you surrendered the city to them, and they will keep repeating their made up stories to each other, until even they come to hold those lies as the absolute and sacrosanct truth, a form of group plagued Pseudologia fantastica.

They will question your motives, assign negative motives to your very act of leaving the city , and then heighten their suspicion of you more, and when your guard are down, they will still sell you out.

They will be like: " for this people to leave this city they cherish this much to us, they must have a back up evil plan in the background waiting to use against us".

Their Igbophobia is incurable, and it's a waste of time trying to cure them of it. They are simply irredeemable.

Just as he excluded the Edos, he should exclude the rest of the SouthSouth, a beg.

I understand where your coming from. It took me a while to understand it as an Anambra man. The average SE Igbo will find it hard to swallow just like me. But what we are talking about now has gone past petty differences or politics. An uncle of mine,in 1970 after the war, went back to the house he built in PH only to meet an Ikwere woman who had taken over his house and told him that "Igbos are not welcome here". The fact that she was speaking in Ikwere ( which is an Igbo dialect not even an Ikwere man can deny) and he was responding in conventional Igbo meant nothing to her.I was at an Ikwere persons burial less than 2 months ago and during the eulogy, many Ikwere introduced themselves. All of them had Igbo surnames and I understood 80 to 90% of the Ikwere dialect. I knew in my heart that these are are my kith kin. But it goes both ways. Some of then will still call me an Anambra man 'Isoma' or ' Ndi-Isoma'. I agree with what the poster said. Should the Ikwere be a problem with the restoration of Biafra, we forgo PortHacourt and wish the Ikwere kingdom well in Nigeria. But at the back of my mind, I still believe that the Ikwere will return to the Igbo fold or at least the Biafran fold because Biafra is not about being Igbo. what unites us much is much deeper than what wants to divides us.

Not really. As long as crude oil remain economically viable and found in commercial quantities in those Igbo speaking parts of Rivers, what divides us is always going to be strong, as those peeps are incapable of thinking outside crude oil, as it stands.

I fear for our future generations. If we move ahead to form a nation without those Igboids today, by the time their crude oil is finished and they come back to their senses, an insurmountable rift must have been created between our offsprings and theirs.

We are currently at a cross road with them.

Yeah, this is what I don't get about some Igbo people about Mba Miri. Why get angry when they reject you? You should even be pushing for just an Igbo country. What are they taking away from the Igbo man or what great advantage is there in having others in your country who are indifferent to you at best? Why not be enthusiastic about having people with a similar culture and prospect of one language governing you? People you know you have an ancient link with? Again, I believe that if there is a Nigeria, there should be eastern unity, but anything else means that every group decides their destiny and there are no hard feelings about that.

The map is the least of what needs to be changed. I've listened to Radio Biafra, they believe that everyone including Idoma and Itsekiri people migrated from Aguleri! They say that the unity between Igbo, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Ibibio, etc is that the groups names starts with 'I' and their women wear two piece wrapper. At first I thought this was just propaganda or some sentimental words used to forge a sense of unity, then you come to realise that this is actually being peddled as facts, and that's when I started being wary of Radio Biafra and the Biafra movement it self (not self determination or secession).

Where there is a will there is always a way. The Igbo that survived everything Nigerians threw at us Post civil war, and rose from the ruins of Biafra to where we are today, can turn Republic of Igboland into a beautiful country we all can be proud of.
We all saw what a single man Maduka can do for his community, think of what we all can achieve in Biafra with such patriotism.

Is there no longer Obuaku. They say converting it to a sea port will be too costly, but yet not impossible.
If Biafra is not going to be a country where we turn impossibilities to possibilities, using our vast international highly educated human resources, then I see no point in agitating for Biafra.

Adversity is the mother of invention. The affinity for reward without hardwork was the undoing of Nigeria, and what we must avoid.

Another plan of theirs is that if peradventure Ndigbo manage to gain our freedom and Cross Rivers, Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom remains behind with them, they will then try to frustrate us economically via these four states! Left to these 4 states (esp' Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom) i don't forsee any problems with regards to Obuaku; but when you factor in these hateful people up north and their southern helpers then the story changes automatically!

No amount of concession you make will please those people. I had already talked on that. There is no cure to their innate Igbophobia.

In 2011, when GEJ wanted to run for presidency and the North was against him, saying that they had to complete their eight years.

There was an Igbo Guy here then, I can't remember his moniker, he was a lone voice in the desert then cautioning Ndiigbo against the pitfall we might be setting ourselves up for, if we support GEJ.

He reasoned that we should cut a deal with the North and support the North in exchange for Northern support of an Igbo president in 2015.

Igbos like me then felt outraged by that his suggestion, we preached for Eastern unity instead. We felt that by supporting GEJ, those SS people could see that we never for once meant harm for them.

But with hindsight now, you will be sure that if GEJ was an Igbo man, and those SS got a chance to make a deal with the North to his detriment, they wouldn't have hesitated, they would grab it with both hands, this they will do without remorse.

Such is the manner of people we are dealing with. They are irredeemable. We have given it our best, but it's time we moved on.

What haven't they thrown at us in Nigeria? Yet we stand on top of all developmental indices in Nigeria. We eluded their snares in Nigeria, as an independent country with more clout, we will overhaul whatever hurdle Nigerians place before us.

My believe in the " can do" spirit of the Igbo nation is absolute. We are more than capable.

I was actually that lone voice. smiley
I eventually had to go with GEJ after I figured I was in the minority. I believe in majority rule.

The recent Edwin Clark's statement on GEJ has finally helped me come to a definite conclusion about who they are.
I am not going to be deceived again one bit.

^^^Unfortunately, the bolded is so true! See as they can't even stick together and speak with one voice presently! GEJ was flung under the bus, and it's almost like nothing happened....they abandoned and denied him faster than a prostitute changing partners, and are now sucking up to the very people that feel they're not good enough to present another candidate for president! lipsrsealed

Kitaa ka I kwulu udi okwu m cholu inu. Let us keep championing the notion that Biafra will be an Igbo only country, at least here on Nairaland. All these insults will automatically cease, and we can begin to focus better on how to make Biafra a first class country without these unnecessary distractions.
The Igbo land I have in mind, includes: the current five eastern states, Anioma and parts of Igbo land carved into Rivers & Benue state respectively. Notice that I did not include Ikwerre and the other Igboid groups who deny us because of 'oyel,' in this new Republic of Igbo land, called Biafra. We can't afford to have 'fake' brothers in our midst, who accept us only when the going is good and reject us like an anathema, the moment we encounter the slightest bit of misfortune.
If Ndi Igbo unanimously tow this line, we will collectively build a country that will be to the envy of our enemies and the admiration of our friends.
Ndi Igbo, we are more than capable. Let's stop belittling ourselves in the eyes of these our unrepentant and ungrateful neighbors bikonu! O gwukwana ka o ra m n'iru.

Where there is Will there is always a way. The Igbo that survived everything Nigerians threw at us Post civil war, and Rose from the ruins of Biafra to where we are today, can turn Republic of Igboland into a beautiful country we all can be proud of.

The affinity reward without hardwork was the undoing of Nigeria, and what we must avoid.

The funny thing is that with all these their gra gra, if tomorrow Buhari announces that Igbo should get their Biafra, they will start fighting tooth and nail to join.
Join in the struggle now, they won't.

I swear to God, I'll take up arms and fight to resist them.

Igbo is the reason Nigeria is one and not Islamic too, they all know that.
