No sooner did the APC candidate, Dakuku Peterside, in the last Governorship Election of Rivers State challenged the (s)election of Nyesom Wike of the PDP, than some people started saying "Rivers State is a PDP state." The bitter truth is that no party can lay claim on Rivers State except the one at the centre. History has shown that right from 1979 when presidential system has been introduced, a party different from the one at the centre has not governed the state. (1) Between 1979 and 1983 when Shehu Shagari of the NPN was the President, Melford Okilo of the same NPN was the Governor. (2) Between 1999 and 2007 when Olusegun Obasanjo of the PDP was the President, Peter Odili of the same PDP was the Governor. (3) In 2007, for the brief period Celestine Omehia of the PDP was Governor, Obasanjo of the PDP was the President. (4) Between 2007 and 2015, while Umaru Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP were presidents at different times, Rotimi Amaechi contested and won elections as Governor on the platform of PDP. Come when the election in Rivers State will hold, Dakuku Peterside of the APC is going to defeat any candidate of the PDP. Useless nation...... Nigeria you and yaa leaders shall not no peace  For the rest of thaa days.... Ur policies have shown who u truly are. Boko haram will never end in the north. Economy of the dis nation shall crumble more and more. No amount of policies shall revamp it again. Buhari u shed innocent bloods just to get to dat sit. But behold, thou shall not see it end, those bloods u shed are crying every day in the presence of our Almighty God. Because of his anger, he has dispatched angel of destruction to the economy of this useless nation,. Ur policies will turn to the worst. Many have lost there jobs within this period of destruction. I wonder why we refused to face our own personal problems in our region and ask our leaders for accountability ? What benefits have we derived from APC in Osun, Imo, Ogun, Oyo, Lagos and Abuja? Absolutely nothing! Our leaders and politicians in Nigeria are all criminals and professional looters across board while the masses suffer. If APC promised CHANGE and five months after nothing has changed, why will you continue to support such evil party that can deny their mothers? We understand how strategic Rivers State is to APC, reason they are fighting tooth and nail to claim it by all means, they will surely fail in their enterprise. Let the rerun be FREE AND FAIR and allow the Rivers people to choose their leader, no interference. @ op, What centre do you mean? It is high time Niger Deltans rise up to resist that Almajiri and their Chief-slave (wuruba) party. We are all witnesses to how sectional they are in appointments, even their Chief Servants complain bitterly about it, too. Their entire body language is a pointer to their greed, selfishness and dictatorship. We are witnesses to the deceits, the lies, the suppression, victimisation, all of that. Some of their boot lickers even come here to say that Wike will be arrested by EFCC so he won't take part in the rerun election. I dare to ask, the same way Goodluck Jonathan ensured that Buhari was arrested or tried for 'certificatelessness'? Had Buhari been arrested in the build up to the 2015 Presidential election, the whole world would have risen to condemn it! The same way the Almajiris would have reacted had that been done, is the same way we will react should they dare lay their hands on Wike. Infact, Rivers will be too hot for them to govern; Niger Delta will be too hot for further oil exploration. Even international community would rise to tell them NO. Why do they really want to have a one party state? Are they in desperate search for an avenue to nosedive completely into totalitarianism? They can't continue to kill the hen that lays the golden egg and walk away freely. Let them seize to plough and plunder our God-given resources to develop their land while we wriggle in want and our lands, yes our earth that produces the black oil is left depleted, undeveloped, abandoned and in chaos. #regionalismIsTheWayOutOfThisQuagmire |

dearpreye: I am a believer in the "Will of the people" & anyone the people so desires should take it home but you can't predicate PDP winning to an aversion to Nigeria not being one party state. Same PDP almost turned Nigeria to a one party state between 2003-2011 which is what made it too big for its britches & eventually destroyed the party in the centre.. 2 Likes |

What did Nigerians gain from the centre...You finished your posts semi objectively but 5 months is still not the yardstick , OBJ improved welfare of civil servants, UMY decreased pump price, someone should tell us what HERO did in his 1st 6mths... You were cool with PDP most Nigerians are not, all the prominent faces are stylishly exiting the building & we should not be happy we made the right choice....
