In IT u need to be diligent especially as a programmer.

1. Yea people leave the house 5am and gets home any time. 10pm and above


2. 9am - 5:30am and u are complaining.
I can count the number of times i saw the sun and was even aware it rained at all because i was indoor always.

3. You are probably not showing that you are responsible and there is no need to micro manage you.

4. How is this your business wether he can code or not. For the company to say that he should manage the space they believe he has what it takes.

5. That is the standard. You just have to be smart on the way you manage your time.

Summarily, i see you an upcoming developer. Invest your time trying to learn more and don't be proud.

Freelancing requires more diligence than working in a company if you don't want to die wretched.

And for you to settle for 65k a month. Bro, you have a veryyyyyy loooong way to go as a developer.

Drop pride and read hard you have no business blogging about programming and it is an insult to mention John Resig at this stage.

Once again watch that "I KNOW A LOT" syndrome.

@3. I am not being mcro managed. We all are. I am not d only developer who works there. It increases d tension and makes us unbalanced sometimes...But I get sha...

@4. I really have No prob with d fact that he/she can't code. Except that it only makes d development stressful Sometimes. Like for example Like being asked to style a javascript alert dialog. You know its not doable. Sometimes explaining such can take some effort and den another idea is brought Which can crash d whole process. They don't usually see this but we do and we suffer/enjoy it....But I get sha...

@d rest: It wasn't my intention to sound proud. I am obviously an upcoming developer. It isn't too much if I would like to attain John Resig's position eventually. There are people who would like to be like Bill Gates eventually. It more Or less like a future dream.

As for blogging on programming its No big deal. We have a lot of webmasters in Nigeria and abroad who post tuts and codes on programming. I have learnt from their posts and I'm still learning from dem... Anyone who teaching programming can blog on it. You dont have to be a wizard to blog nah... But I get your gist sha... Humility is the way. One Love!!! grin grin grin grin

Ok since you took the constructive feedback with maturity. I will reply you so that you see the angle i am coming from.

@3. On micro managing : I manage programmers and i have been actively programming for more than 10 years. By active programming, i mean paying all my bills 100% with programming so i can tell you from experience.
You need to take responsibilities more if you don't want to be micromanaged. You need to take notes and give feedback before you are asked about it.

@4. The good thing about being supervised by non techies is that their imagination is wild and when you research you will discover that all the brain waves they had without thinking of how it will be implemented is actually possible.
and on the example you gave, YES you can style a dialog box. Read up your jquery and themes very well.

On blogging. You can read people's blog to learn but starting your blog at this stage will distract you as the focus will be on the next thing to teach people on your blog, rather than personal development and making your projects World Class.

Frustration will set in but you need to hold on and fight on. You need to learn emotional intelligence and how to win WAR despite losing few battles when it comes to your stakeholders (Your boss, colleagues and end users)

Hmmm. Thanks I am encouraged. Probably because this is my first time working in an IT firm. Being doing it as an hobby. So i will try to adjust my mindset on the "job" part of it...
