thanks. unilag doesnt give out transcripts to private addresses and i would need the tramscript to scan and attach to my application. my regular transcript has already been obtained. i already applied for my diploma transcript. i paid d money and filled the form. i was told to wait for six weeks only to be told after sixvweeks that i have to write a letter and i notin lag. presently doing my nysc. pls how does the WES work out in this situation?tnks

Unilag will give you your dip transcript. The regulations for regular transcript doesn't follow here. You have to keep pestering them, that's the only way. As for wes, you need to find out about wes evaluation at www.wes.org . Explaining that will be too long.

Hello house,

I've been a silent reader since part 8, and this thread has taught me a lot and kept me informed. It has been intriguing reading various people's victories & struggles to get a study permit.

I'm going to share my success story or at least add my information to this post so it's helpful to people who may need it.

Mode of application Online

Applied 11th August 2015

Biometrics 12th August 2015

Medical call 9th October 2015

Medical done 13th October 2015

Passports request 21st October 2015

Picked up passports 26th October 2015

School: Conestoga College (Mobile Solutions Development) PgD

Documents submitted:

Statements of accounts converted ($70,000CAD)

Receipt of school fees for a year ($13,980CAD)

No sponsors

All CIC forms

Work related documents (Letter of appointment, promotion, future employment letter)

Family documents (Siblings birth certificate)

Transcripts (Undergraduate and Masters degree and other certifications)

Police Character Certificate

SOP (Very solid SOP)

Also really good travel history (We've been to over 10 countries).

So my application was for myself and a sibling, (both students). This application was a bit different because we have lived in Nigeria for below 6 months and we were not sure we would need to do medicals but they requested it. For someone is in a similar situation, you will be asked to do medicals. Also, we both have a masters degree from the UK in Information Technology and our Undergraduate degree was in Human Resources (unrelated). We had to write a really solid SOP that talked about our background in management and our transition to  IT also, how a PGD will be significant in the growth of our career. We have zero study gap, so we didn't have to justify that.

In summary, I believe preparation was key to a successful application. Please read older posts, it helps. If it helps, we are 25 years old, single with no kids.

Special shout out to theSoj and every other contributor. You guys are awesome.

@Chigoziri, here's your cue. PGD after masters. Just justify it in your SOP.

know i didnt and they never ask me to come for a medical test,i did just the travel insurance,i was invited by my brother

If you applied online and they're requesting your passport without upfront medicals nor medical request then my guesses are;
1. You may have applied for a visa category that does not require you to stay in Canada beyond 6months
2. VO oversight

I did upfront medical, do I inform the IOM I have submitted my application? Pls reply me.

Provided you uploaded your e-medical form which was given you after your upfront medicals before submitting your application, you won't need to inform IOM. They'll simply forward your test results to CIC to determine whether you passed or not. When CIC makes a decision they'll update the medical column on your profile as 'passed'.

When you'll need to contact IOM is if CIC sends you a medical request despite having done your upront and uploading the form.

True talk. I completely agree that PGD after masters or even Diploma/Advanced Diploma after BSc can fetch one a TRV. But I think there is an extraordinarily high burden of proof on the applicant to convince the VO to grant the TRV otherwise "Purpose of Visit" will be a quick reason for denial. This is why as a rule of thumb I would mostly advise against it unless the applicant can write a very very convincing SOP to make the case for it.

Also, an applicant like @MiniMicro03 is relatively young, and is not a risky applicant whatsoever because he/she had visited ten countries in the past. Additionally, @MiniMicro03 is a self-sponsor with over $70,000 (at the age of 25)! All this would likely allay any concerns that the applicant might be an intending immigrant who is desperately trying to run away from Naija.

Most applicants on this thread trying to go for PGD after masters or Diploma/Advanced Diploma after BSc are complex applicants with little to no travel history or relatively lower savings (<$20,000 in most cases) or a patchy employment history. Furthermore, many such applicants don't sufficiently explain in their SOP why they are not going for a higher degree. Thus getting a TRV for a lower degree has been a tall task for most applicants here.

Having said that, I congratulate @MiniMicro03 for his/her TRV. Your successful application once again confirms that VOs view each applicant independently and there isn't a hard and fast formula (in the strict sense) to getting a TRV. I applaud your efforts at putting together an excellent application. Congrats again man/ma'am. Also, thanks for sharing your story.

This is also a cautionary tale for those who want quick and fast advice on how to package their TRV application... as @miniMicro03 said, patiently read the thread and customize your application to your own situation.

Thank you Khalesi and thesoj, Just like you said, i will need to strongly convince the VO in my SOP. As for travel history mentioned by thesoj, i have visited 2 european countries ( 2wice each) and 1 asian country (once) plus 4 African countries (if that counts). As for funds, not an issue, I have saved quite some amount ( remember am applying for 2016 fall or 2017 winter) so my funds will be very high by then and i am sponsoring myself. I will go on study leave, i am paid in USD over 7500 net per month and i will continue to get paid for 4months while i am on study leave. my hubby will not join immediately so my ties backhome will be justified. I have worked in Banks for 8years now. Above all the special Grace of God will follow me as usual anyday i am ready to apply for a TVR grin . I can see Conestoga college has anointing and i will tap into. Thank you once again for your advice.

You are welcome. Good points. I would still suggest applying for MSc or MBA if you can though. Have you considered uOttawa? They are a fully bilingual university and you could apply for a program there in French as well -- most of their programs are taught in both English and French. Look up their MSc in Management or their MBA. You could pick the French-taught option, in which case uOttawa would significantly reduce your tuition such that you pay the same amount as Canadian students. Also, uOttawa is located only about a ten-minute drive from the Quebec border so you would have access to a whole lot of francophone as well as anglophone job opportunities.

Baba, let him/her upload just the bank details of both ( SOA sheets and references) in the finance section if they are voluminous.

Then attach the sponsorship letter and other business documents plus his/her own supporting docs with the LOE .

Note: He/she should dedicate the first page of the LOE to detailing the documents uploaded in each section.

That'd be just perfect.

Btw, which UofL campus are you @? I'm at the Mains.

Thanks.
Also at the main campus

Is ur cgpa less than 2.1? If not u can apply for master by course. Some unis accept students to PhD with master by course. But if you insist on pgd, you will need to explain to VO why you are going for pgd instead of masters tru your SOP. Cheers.

I have a second class Upper and 2 years work experience. In my field it is nearly impossible to find a school that allows PHD through masters by course and even when you do, getting a supervisor without publications would be almost Mission Impossible. The pgd i have opted for, though related to my field is interdisciplinary and doesn't have a masters program in any Canadian school i know. I will try and work on the SOP, I guess i will just keep the Pgd as a last resort. Thanks for your reply.
