LESSON 4: DOUBLE CROCHET.

US short form = dc.

Please note that the turning chain here is 2 ch.
The reason is that a dc is twice as "tall" as an sc or hdc.

i made 3 rows of dc.

i also wanted to ask which chain among the 2 turning chains made will i put my needle whe i want to make my last dc.

i dont know if you understand my question.

Nice work you've got there. Well done!
Actually, you do not need to crochet into the 2ch turning chain at all.

The turning ch just provides a kind of edge wall for your work.

You should crochet under the "chain - like" tops that form on top of each row. And they should be the same number for each row (in this case 12).

So you'll see that your first "chain - like" top at the starting of the dc row is between the 2ch and your first dc.

ok tanx i now get it better,
i have tried another row of dc and it
came out better cos i noticed the edge
at the turning poiint of the last two i did
were not forming a straight line.

Crocheters are really not common at all. I learnt basic crocheting from my mum when I was a kid. And then I had to teach myself a whole lot of other things.

. I'm so sorry that you are having some difficulty. I try to compress the pictures a bit so that they can be viewed on all devices.

a year old as my model. when i measured her head,
it was 17cm cos i measured her head round grin

should i place the measuring tape in the middle
of her head and then stop at her fore head or how do i go about it ma

Yes. Just round her head (at the widest part). So the tape will come round to just about 1 inch above the eyebrows.
Are you sure you measured 17cm? I think it should be 17 inches. The last time I measured a 2 year old, the measurement was 18 inches.
