Hello guys, your reactions to my comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

debsty:
aolatunde00, I seem to be in the same position as yours even though my assessment is not yet completed at ICAA,I am positive the result would be positive grin.
I have also put in for External Auditor , a pity that the ceiling was quickly reached . I am hoping NSW would make their selections quickly.
I observed you mentioned nomination from south Australia, however, I checked it but their requirements for nomination of external auditor is kinda extra. They have this main list , and an extra list (which includes external auditors) which can only be assessed if you are a graduate from the region, or you have very high points , up to 85 including their nomination points. They have about 2 others I can't remember, seems like a big hill to climb.
I am thinking I missed something on the site, which you might knw about because you mentioned that you(ur hubby) can meet SA's requirements easily. Pray, do tell.
Thanks

You are right. External Auditor is on SA's Supplementary Skilled List and to qualify one has to meet one of the following:
Be an international graduate of South Australia.
Have worked in a skilled occupation in South Australia for the last 12 months.
Have an immediate family member permanently residing in South Australia for 12 months or more.
Have high points (85 points, including nomination points).

Your only option may be NSW if you cannot meet the requirements. ACT, Tasmania require employment offers.

Did you find out from ICAA if you could use IELTS General for assessment?

I have ready it on this thread and in Nigeria all things are possible! Get the finger print form (it flying everywhere online), do a neat finger printing, scan it at maybe 600 dpi to your contact in Nigeria. You have to send other things like your passport photograph and copy of your Intl passport. Alternatively or in addition, you could send the original form to the person by courier. It can be done by proxy, it is no biggie. When I went and did mine, I discovered that those guys are much more interested in the money than establishing you have no criminal records. Did mine for 5000. My 2 cents.

Thanks alot. I would like you to help me with a link from where I could download the Police Certificate application form.

@Pingu2k5, Thanks for the response. I have sent the documents to them(Including the IELTS General test) since last week and they have not said anything yet, fingers crossed they would be fine with it till the end. I wanted to get the assessment first before dropping the info on this forum that they actually accept IELTS General for PR. Next is to fast and pray that NSW make their nominations once I put in my EOI. Its quite surprising though that most of all the other states do not have External auditor on their list, does it mean that there are lots of them over there. Anyways , taking this journey one step at a time. I am optimistic that I would also come on the forum sometime soon to post my timelines for people to see and also help others on their journey to PR.

The problem is that i was paid cash all through my youth service with no payslip, tax or pension statement to back it up or do you think my 6 month salary statement would suffice since its the same coy all through. Would definitely give PTE-A a go.

What is the current economic situation in Australia like? Would i have to do bridging course to boost my job chances or go for a tafe diploma? Sent you a PM.

Thanks

To claim points from your employment, you really need to back up your claims with enough supporting documents as it had been mentioned previously.

The economy is thriving though not like during mining boom era. As per job wise, you really need to be on top of your game to get something in your field eventhough construction industry is thriving at the moment. You might need to go for some Tafe courses and probably go for some volunteering jobs. However, I strongly believe in God's favour making ways even where there seems to be no way.

Hello everyone,

I applied for my 189 with all the necessary stuff, then I noticed a catastrophic mistake I made about 2 months after lodgement. I made a mistake while filling my passport number in all the forms and my health declaration form. I actually typed the letter O in place or number 0 as my passport number. My passport number is A05...... I was typing AO5..... I feel so stressed and worried. I called and I was advised to fill the 1023 form for incorrect answer, I have done and sent. I was fortunate to notice when I needed my passport number to access an online exam which logs me in with my passport number only, so I copied from my emedical letter which has my passport number, then It said incorrect passport number, then I knew there was a problem. So I checked and I saw the error I made. I feel so disappointed with myself and I will be more disappointed if I am denied cos of this.

Dear Nairalanders, does anyone have an information on if this constitutes a serious risk? Has anyone experienced filling that 1023 form for incorrect answer and still got the grant. Pls and pls can someone tell me something I feel depressed and mad at myself for making that mistake.

Cc Justwise and other gurus pls abeg help.

I do not see any issue since you have submitted the form 1023. Your application will be considered accordingly. It shows nobody is above mistake, they too understand that. Personally, I haven't experienced such thing before neither do I know anybody. Relax, you have done the right thing.

Stop disturbing yourself over nothing. It is a passport number mistake writing O for 0. They experience it every time. Not a biggie.

I understand the only way to calm your nerves now will be to give you the CO's number directly so you can explain one on one abi?
Seriously, I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill as earlier pointed by two of our most experienced gurus..especially since you have followed due protocal with the correction form..
What if you typed 8 instead of 2?

Dude just relax, everything will work out at the end,

Congrats on your positive assessment. Really, you could have just applied for skilled independent visa-189 since you have 60 points. But checking through occupation ceilings for this financial year, you are only left with State nominations. And the only state that I know that their nomination is very fast is South Australia. However, they have fewer opportunities compare to NSW whose nomination process is very slow.

Could please advise the house the occupations you previously nominated, your qualification and years of experience so that others can learn from your experience? pingu2k5:
Sorry it took a while to respond.Hubby studied accounting at a state university and finished with a 2.2.He presently works with an insurance organisation that examines the financial records of banks. His first assesment was with Vetassess as an internal auditor but he was given a negative mark.
Next he tried with Icaa as an external auditor but it was noticed that at least one compulsory course was missing from the transcript he submitted! So he withdrew the assesment from Icaa and went back to his school to request for a new transcript. After about 6months,he got the new transcript and applied again to Icaa using his previous documents.
P.s- he included his positive WES assesment this second time around.Hes a member of ACAA but he's not written any exams with them. This November makes his post nysc work experience 5years.

Thanks for this detailed information. Vetassess usually do not equate most Nigerian 4-years degrees to Australian Bachelor degrees but rather an Associate degrees which will result to negative assessment mostly.

The individual I asked question on her behalf has BSc.Economics but unfortunately got negative assessment due to the issue I mentioned above. So, I'm considering if she could give external auditor with ICAA a go.

I think she can.Her syllabus content though is very very key to Icaa.
