IUI is like N150,000.
IVF/ICSI... can be done at N800,000.

Why buy babies like they are groceries'
Why not adopt legally if need be. Educated peeps be acting like people from the palaeolithic days...

Nigerians will rather buy a child than adopt one,
just to give a fake testimony that they have been blessed
with a set of twins after 10 years barrenness.
SMH for these hypocrites.

This may not be the complete truth. Police has a way of twisting stories to make it appear as they are working. I want to believe the couple adopted those kids perhaps if the parents cannot take care of them or why have they not shown up?

Lessons to all. If you cannot take care of children then zip up! And if you must adopt babies, go through the normal process by getting the Police involved! A word is enough for the wise.

I am a live WITNESS to this incident, d couples were NEVER arrested by the POLICE. They were arrested by NSCDC officers but were later transferred to the Nigeria Police.

PUNCH NG verify ur stories well before publishing.
Nigerian Police collecting glory for what they didn't do.......sooooo pissed now
The important thing is that they were caught. It doesn't matter who caught them.

And what happened to adopting? There are lots of children in homes waiting for people to adopt them, but no. People will rather buy kids and pretend they're their biological child than adopt children who need them and will love them as well they'll love their own birth parents
dont say what you dont know about.
Its 1 million times easier to buy than to adopt in the country.
And the worst part is that it even takes close to three years
to finalize after spending over 2 million naira.

buying is cheaper if the parents willingly sold the babies

Why will a custom officer that suppose to know better involved himself in this scandal? Just too bad.
However Government must look into the adoption system in Nigeria,
Most of the Orphanage homes are money making company, I learnt to adopt a child you spend close to One (1) Million Naira as bribe,
they pretend that adoption is free, it is a big lie.
You give bribe close to a million before they allow you to adopt and if you try to be stubborn especially in government orphanage homes, they will give you a disable child since is their right to give out the child they like.
Also most of the catholic Missionaries will not give out their babies (somebody jokingly said is like they know the children mothers and fathers).
There is need to reform our orphanage homes adoption system law.

Re: Customs Officer, Wife Arrested For Buying Twin Babies For N500,000 by Optionalx: 10:19am On Oct 29, 2015
This a case of ADOPTION. Call it illegal adoption and not BUYING. What is the intention of the couple! The parent of the babies appear to consent.

Why do couples follow this route; simple because societal stigma and taunting.

Punch reporter is screaming buying babies to create sensation, even in legal adoption you still have to pay some money.

God bless childless couples

Abi ooo, I don't see any crime here. It's a simply informal adoption process with N500k as appreciation.

see them, giving excuses. if its in the east they will descend on the thread. i have always told them that wat they call "baby factory" in the east should actually be encouraged, its a positive thing. let teenagers who mistakenly got pregnant not flood our streets with street urchins, let their baby be adopted through the unofficial means (most ppl cant afford the legal adoption) by couples could not have a child. Dats how its done in advanced countries

A child is a human and it is crime and also evil to trade human as commodity.
The fact that some so called orphanages are doing similar things doesn't make
it right.

The fact is that people buy day old child just to claim it as theirs not really
because going orphanage route is much complex.

I guess you are in support of various baby factories springing up nowadays.
Re: Customs Officer, Wife Arrested For Buying Twin Babies For N500,000 by Nobody: 11:03am On Oct 29, 2015
It baffles why Nigerians in this time and age, still buy babies as a succour/solution to their inability to biologically produce children instead of legally adopting a child! Why are we this crude, crass and archaic in our thinking?! This country and its people have a very loooong way to go...
