Thank you for your input. The PDP Senators lost EVERY moral legitimacy the day they escorted Saraki to the CCT. They cemented it when they adjourned planery to enable Saraki face his alleged crime and instead convene at the CCT. I warned against these and even openly criticised it.

PDP were more of Saraki's personal interest than their own interest. I remember Metuh's Press Statements...(Jeez)! Saraki took advantage of the whole thing for his own interest and traded with the APC at the expense of PDP that were doing Abubakou for him.

As for moral burden, it is on both the Presidency, APC and PDP.

-The Presidency nominated a morally bankrupt Amaechi for minister.

-The PDP defended a morally bankrupt Saraki with their lives(and got served)

-The APC defended a morally bankrupt Amaechi and aided his confirmation.

Being the Deputy Senate President, the constitution allows Senator Ike Ekweremadu to preside over the affairs of the senate in the absence of the Senate President. It was expected that with Ike at the helm affairs, the PDP senators have the rare privilege of doing nominee Amaechi as they pleases. Instead of seizing this rare opportunity, PDP leaders in the Senate "agreed" with Saraki to adjourn planery for the said day. They lost the golden opportunity to have both their say and their way in Amaechi's screening. Sadly, with Saraki at helm of affair, PDP Senators only had their say but not their way.

Walk-out May Cost PDP The DSP Position:
It is no secret that APC leadership want Ike Ekweremadu out of the DSP office. According to section 50(2)(c) of the 1999 constitution, removal of the Deputy Senate President from office only requires 2/3 votes of the Senate. Considering that it only needs 1/3 members of senators to form a quorum(Section 54(1) of the constitution), the APC senators present may take advantage of any walk-out by PDP senators and move motion for the impeachment of Senator Ekweremadu from office. It only need the blessing of 2/3 members of the Senators present to achieve it. PDP caucus should be very careful.

The Present State of PDP In The Senate:
Having lost their grip of the senate, PDP caucus should let bygone be bygone and come to terms with their role as opposition within the Senate. They should be focussed on providing good opposition while doing their jobs as legislators. They have to face the fact that as opposition, they will most likely not have their way but only their say. Hopefully, the party gets things right and win majority seat in next legislative election in 2019.

noooo.. Those present were 49pdp and 10 apc senators add them together it will be 59 minus saraki, will be 58.and simple majority of 109 is 55... And 58 is above 55. Secondly in election it is those sitting and are present constituting simple majority. But due to the nature of removal of an elected leader it is always 2/3 of the elected members. irrespective of what people say about you, I believe you're arguably the most grounded political analyst on nairaland. It's also a good thing that PDP has someone like you. But on the contrary, PDP didn't lose. They've won something important which is unity. The PDP no stands as a united house.

- Saraki controls the house and whatever he says when he hits the gavel is final.

- the PDP senators stood for him and followed him because they realise that Saraki has to remain in that position for Ike to remain DSP.

- now that Saraki has breached that agreement, it is now time for the PDP to look for other ways of protecting ike.

- posterity has recorded it that PDP stood for what is morally right yesterday, while APC stood for what is morally wrong.

Very wrong sir! The cases of Joshua Dariye and Ladoja had to do with illegal removal from office as Governors. For instance, Dariye was impeached by FIVE members of Plateau state house of Assembly. That clearly fell short of Qorum. In Ladoja's case, he was impeached by 18 members of the State House and in a Hotel without the Maze which is the symbol of authority. These are facts!

As for Ekiti Speaker, he was impeached and wasn't recognised as Speaker by the State CJ and House Clerk.

Well i beg to differ. It was better that the PDP staged a walk out rather than stay back and adopt a far more.conforntational stance, something that couldve degenrated to something far worse. I equally support the PDP's decision not to question Amaechi on the grounds of corruption petitions early submitted and their decision not to second the.motion for Amaechi to take a bow. The overall results are not palatable BUT at least it clearly shows that the PDP stood for what was right while the APCs action rubbishes their so called anti corruption stance.

PDP Lost The Golden Chance To Block Amaechi's Screening:
October 21 was first scheduled as the day of screening for Hon Rotimi Amaechi as a minister of the government. Same day coincidentally was the day Bukola Saraki was to appear before the CCT for his ongoing trial. Being the Deputy Senate President, the constitution allows Senator Ike Ekweremadu to preside over the affairs of the senate in the absence of the Senate President. It was expected that with Ike at the helm affairs, the PDP senators have the rare privilege of doing nominee Amaechi as they pleases. Instead of seizing this rare opportunity, PDP leaders in the Senate "agreed" with Saraki to adjourn planery for the said day. They lost the golden opportunity to have both their say and their way in Amaechi's screening. Sadly, with Saraki at helm of affair, PDP Senators only had their say but not their way.

Walk-out May Cost PDP The DSP Position:
It is no secret that APC leadership want Ike Ekweremadu out of the DSP office. According to section 50(2)(c) of the 1999 constitution, removal of the Deputy Senate President from office only requires 2/3 votes of the Senate. Considering that it only needs 1/3 members of senators to form a quorum(Section 54(1) of the constitution), the APC senators present may take advantage of any walk-out by PDP senators and move motion for the impeachment of Senator Ekweremadu from office. It only need the blessing of 2/3 members of the Senators present to achieve it. PDP caucus should be very careful.

The Present State of PDP In The Senate:
Having lost their grip of the senate, PDP caucus should let bygone be bygone and come to terms with their role as opposition within the Senate. They should be focussed on providing good opposition while doing their jobs as legislators. They have to face the fact that as opposition, they will most likely not have their way but only their say. Hopefully, the party gets things right and win majority seat in next legislative election in 2019.

Bros na me hail pass ooo....I'm a great follower,subscriber and supporter of you and ur post...going by your post even when it seems u support pdp and going by your post when it seems you support pdp ;what I figured out is dat u are a great political analyst and u don't just argue instead u give Facts... Alot of ppl see u are a staunch pdp supporter but me I dey see u as a great politician who just want the best for his nation and people...pretty bad our system has been eaten,bitten and washed with corruption if not how can we have crack heads as leader's when we have brilliant ppl like u and even some APC supporters here on Nairaland...


All our leaders know and think about is money,then money... They giv no F about what ever happens afterwards but it's pretty bad dey hv jazzed alot of Nigerians who keep on fighting themselves while they the politicians are doing good at their business (corruption)..


How can a sane person tell me pdp misruled Nigeria for 16 years..whereas in this 16 years Nigeria was ruled by alot of peeps from this same APC...


U wanna be seen as an angel in politics, it's easy.. Get to a post thenloot and loot and after some time buy over some ppl and decamp to APC and let the public know u hv been brainwashed before...dats all.


Anyway one of d latest ministers have said they steal and loot cos Nigerians don't stone them...but when the frustration becomes too much won't the stoning happen?
