What exactly is he supposed to do? The global oil market has crashed, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Algeria, Venezuela etc are in the same boat. Lucky for them they've other sources of revenue and have saved for days like this (which GEJ refused to do).

The US domestic output caused the crash, we and the rest of OPEC have had to lower the price in order to chase Asian markets. Unfortunately China's economy has bottomed out (they'd to devalue their currency, always a clear sign of trouble) and thus has less demand.

Cars are becoming energy efficient, also reducing demand.

It's a global thing.

At least there's some hope: the flat-lining of oil has reduced investments in exploration, which means the US domestic output is dropping. Kind of ironic, really.

So in a nutshell, Buhari cant really do much right now. There isnt even much funds to sustain our work force, talk more of diversifying the economy. Hence the need for looters to regurgitate their loot.

Speaking at the 22nd Convocation of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, Fayose warned that unless drastic action is taken, the economy might collapse in the next three months.

Fayose, who is the Visitor to the College, lamented the deplorable state of the nation’s economy, noting that rather than address it, the All Progressives Congress- led Federal Government has been employing propaganda to deal with the issue.

He said: “This is the time for the Federal Government to come out and tell Nigerians about the state of the economy rather than employ propaganda.

“I foresee serious trouble ahead because in the next three months, the economy may collapse. Oil now sells in the region of $40 per barrel.

Things have never been bad like this. When I returned from the Holy Land yesterday (Wednesday), I was told that Ekiti got N1.4bn whereas my wage bill per month is N2.6bn.”

Governor Fayose, however decried that Ekiti people don’t pay tax, wondering how government could work for the people with depleting allocation from the centre.

I don't know where Fayose got his hypotesy of the collapse of economy in three month's time, I think he is beginning to move into an unfamiliar terrain. Our economy may not be too good at the moment, but Fayose is far, very far from the truth. And he does not have what it takes to analyse the economy.
