I can remember Fayose deduction of 2k from Ekiti state workers salary with the promise of giving them a Christmas gift but alas! He gave them premature chickens!

Now, let's get to the basics. Does it not give you headache that the only premise on which a State Governor in Nigeria thinks that our economy will collapse was simply because when he came back from the holy land, they told him that Ekiti got a certain amount, whereas the State's monthly wage bill is a certain amount beyond what they got, and becuase oil prices has also fallen? And as a result, the economy is going to collapse.

What I thought you should asking yourself, let me even assume you are from Ekiti or EVEN any State of Nigeria, for that matter is that what about if this oil dry, what will be our fate?

A situation where State's government cannot meet their obligation anytime there's no windfall from about speaks volume about the State's lazy intellectual thinking of how to increase their IGR. They can't think of how to live without Abuja. Shame.

Basic problem is that

1.Oil prices have fallen as Fayose rightly observed, leading to a fall in state allocations, as Fayose also rightly observed.

2.As a result, we can see that most states are so dependent on Abuja Niger Delta oil for their livelihood.

3.So, it seems that the solution is that states have to develop polices to increase IGR....hence Fayose's snarky comment about Ekiti people not paying tax. (Most Nigerians do not pay tax).

4.Looks like Abuja and company need to tell us how they want to run the economy. FWIW....it looks like austerity for us. Even with the return of the loot stolen.

Thanks for your reply here which is highly loaded but my comment earlier was a reply to accusations of meaningless trips by PMB .I am sorry I had to make a comparison but the body language of the person I reacted to showed bias so I had to refer to GEJ.But on the subject: banks don't have money,why will they have money when they have always depended on shady government patronage,even money laundering services to the detriment of the masses.On electricity ,it's 4 times better in my place than it was .I used 4 jerricans of PMS for my 2 generators per week before PMB but I hardly use one jerrican per week now.That's savings of atleast 7500 naira per week channeled to other areas.I am giving you on the ground analysis not paper statistics.

You are wrong as well as fayose . Did you ask yourself how much the state government has done to improve the internally generateted revenue (IGR) . So when the barrell of crude oil now sell for lower than $40 how can the FG pay you more than they derive from oil sale ? It is high time Nigeria shift attention from oil and focus on other mineral resources and most expecially local manufacturing and export trade , as this will improve the GDP . Fayose need not shout about this because the economy has been on a free fall since the fall ion the oil price .

I am getting worried the way most nairalanders are reasoning along party and tribal lines without considering the reality on ground. No one need to be an economist to know that if urgent measures are not taking to boost and open our economy, then in the next three months there will be massive job loss and hyperinflation. Granted POP squandered our collective wealth for sixteen years I found dangerous that for five months APC is yet to show any economic direction when all our economic indicators are showing red!
