OP Nice work.
You need to effect this little correction in your writeup, lest you indvertently mis-inform readers:
Opobo was founded by king jaja(an igboman).however, ijaw IMMIGRANTS who were mainly porters and tradesmen were allowed to reside there owing to the kings' magnanimity.
Hence, from the foregoing, it would not be out of place to say Opobo and by extension Bonny are igbo settlements.

I am just watching all this ediots talking rubbish, I ve been patient because of my anti-biafra stance but they keep taking us as fools they would quickly jump and say Oyigbo is part of Niger delta they forget that when the abandoned property law was passed in Rivers state oyigbo people also suffered the consequences too same with egbema people who used to be part of old east central until the Obasanjo boundary adjustment, even that mumu hopeathand spilling rubbish about Ekpeye, ikwerre people no support Biafra no mean say Ekpeye people no support am, ekpeye people actively partaked in the war but everybody moved on after 1970, let them keep giving themselves false hope should I give u link of when the rivers state government tried to force ibani language on an igbo speaking community in opobo, the list goes on. I am a strong advocate of one Nigeria because I know whats on board and how we can het our way, lemme not talk further... not everything should be said on social media.

the truth is these people rely on the one nigeria to hold stake on every igbo land in rivers state. they want to lay claim of the lands in rivers state. these people are minorities but they come on social media to form majority ethnic group in rivers state. if they were the majority ethnic group in the state, why havent they produced a governor in the state.

things like this we just ignore based on maintaining decorum in this forum. No need for fight for our land.

all this people just keep saying rubbish up and down, they would say igbos that dont speak the central igbos are not igbos as of ijaws have one common language, ijaws are allowed to have some cultural and language difference but are allowed to be Ijaws while igbos that even speak same language with other igbos are not allowed to be Igbos, they would say igbos dominated them in the former eastern region, igbos took the land because of there huge population, even uptil today they still refer to ikwerres as igbos then imagine back then when there was no rivers state or abia or imo state, was it not obvious that when they said igbos dominate them they meant all igbo speaking groups even the present ikwerres they saw them as the enemies dominating them, an ikwerre man would tell u he came from Benin that the only reason for igbo presence in ikwerre is because of trade and proximity, akwa ibom people have been there for centuries they didnt loose there language to us even cross rivers people have been there for hundreds of years they didnt loose there language to us even ogonI people as small as they are didnt loose there language to us but them they mysteriously came from Benin left there Benin langauge, they saw ijaws that they traded with they didnt adopt ijaw language, saw akwa ibom and ogoni in there western corner it didnt influence them but igbo language mysteriously entered there culture... is it not funny.

exactly! Those are igbo settlements with ijaw elements. People from the riverine ijaw communities bordering these towns often ventured into these places to trade. Eventually, a significant number of them fell in love with the place and decided to stay behind.

When you listen to the points they give in this forum, you wont help but ask if these people went to school or they just got educated from a roadside mechanic. I dont usually comment on such senseless threads because they end up killing my intelligence level because whenever i see people talk like that, I feel sad about the next generation of some people.

One man can make a whole tribe speak his language in opobo? He forced everyone in opobo to speak his language there? They will not read history where other people read history but they will cite one blog and call it history of our people. Even when they read normal history, they refuse to picture the happenings of then and make sense in what is happening. but they love living in denial.

Lets say the binis left their kingdom to come to the now ikwerre land like the story claimed, but they refused to cite in the story that the man that was running away saw some people where he started living. So, they told us that the only man who left bini started giving birth kids while other people he met stopped living and expanding. They became barren and lost the penile organ. the way people think in this forum is as a result of lack of critical thinking.

Their revered asari dokubo said that, rivers state is a battle ground which the hausa/fulani people created to cause trouble between the igbos and the minorities. why cant they join the remaining ijaws in the state with their brothers in bayelsa since bayelsa is an ijaw state. they didnt do it, they want to cause more troubles for themselves. the Ijaws are always been known to be riverine people, while attach them to upland people? to cause problems?

they have big problems and they dont even know how to solve it.

Read about the emergence of the opobo kingdom from reputable book and see why opobo is igbo speaking.

Wow nice one, educating and intriguing... It is always a thing of joy going back to the days, seeing the wonderful rich colourful heritage that we are rich in.

Africa and Nigeria is filled with such colourful cultures that its almost a shame watching us get lost in other people's cultures letting ours slip down the drain and die a slow but painful death.

Its time we reconnected and preserved these rich cultures left by our fathers to us, it is our only identity in this world that distinguishes us from others and is very unique.

I love this... Proudly and always Repping Igbo 100%

I support all you said, kudos to the researcher, this thread has just solved a big task given to me at work.

One thing though, I rep Yoruba 100%!

Nice attempt at history but some of your post are factually incorrect. The Annang people don't have a culture of fattening a lady b4 marriage, the Efiks do.
Heartibaby:

Thank u. Was going to point that out to the Op but u already have. The picture she tagged as an annang maiden getting fattened is even boldly labelled "Calabar Girl".
OP Pls make necessary adjustments. Nice thread though

My research was factual and correct.
Anaang people employ fattening rooms. It's even on Anaang wiki page.

The Efiks also have this too. However, I didn't write the title of the photo. The original photographer did. I have no right to tamper with that.

Not that i cared what this op writes, its his thread, but his ignorance may land him in trouble in PH.
