I see a different situation. he needs heat in a freezing world. how did he get to the top part of the ladder to break off the higher ones? by leaving a small piece ( look at the left side of the ladder) he is brave. bravery is knowing what to fear. in getting the last of the ladder, he can come out. he has survived.
we will move, either because we see the light or feel the heat ( or cold).

I also believed he was not d one DAT destroyed d ladder padel...he made d light so he can repair d ladder...

This pictures denotes a state of great need vis-a-vis a state of complete freedom. But because the present need to overcome cold ( a result of unclothedness), he took d sticks that make up d stairs of d ladder and use it to make fire to resist d cold. This is just a short term effect and once d fire goes out, he would return to his state of need (cold). He exchanged freedom for warmth, though through ignorance, if he had endured the struggle of climbing coupled with the cold from the height and just managed to escape to d other side, he would have been a free man. He instead did otherwise to satisfy his present pressing need

but who is offering the freedom? How come i don't see the freedom donor?

the ladder did not come by itself. There's no other person indicated in the pics So common sense demands that we see him as the builder of the the ladder.

you are over analysing the pic that's your problem. It's a simple pic meant to pass across a simple proverbial message but you are reading too much detail in it.

i'm not a simple guy bro. I know that everything isn't always what it seems. To the simple minds, yes. but for me, it's an abstract to create many things from.

@ the picture, i believe we are looking at a very good resource manager / planner. The weather is too cold for him to venture out and he has no clothings on, best thing he did; climb into a hole. As he was there he used the Limited resource he had (ladder) to put up fire and keep warm. Notice that he was careful enough to leave studs on the left side of the ladder while knocking them off, which was what aided him in getting to the present height whilst knocking off the ladder and keeping warm. At the end he will achieve two things ; keep warm and alive till storm is over and once it is over, step on the studs on the left remainder of the ladder and get out

thank you man. Exactly what i have being trying to explain to them all day long.

He killed 2 birds with a stone. Most people see this guy as a fool but he's very smart.

He wasn't in any prison or Danger i think he intention went into the hole to make himself warm since he made use of the wood from the ladder and was wise to leave studs on the left side of the ladder so he could climb out.

now people with recharged brains are coming into this thread.

1. We may differ, we may also see things differently.

2. Out of the 14 steps of the lather, only 4 is remaining.

3.If we watch closely, the steps are removed completely from one of the lather's long pole,unlike the other.

4.I also presume that he started removing the steps from the last, if so, then he can still climb out, since he could still cling on to the small,small parts of the already removed steps up to the 5th step from the top.

5. Maybe it is snowing out there, thus, staying back in the. Pit to make fire so as to warm himself pending when it will stop snowing.

6. With this ^^^ in mind, he carefully removed the steps to make fire to warm himself up, but also tactically removed them in such a way that he can still climb out,thus,not removing all the steps from the other pole completely.

How do you know it's a ditch? And who told you there's a house nearby?

I mean, he was not born in that hole, that enough is obvious from the pic.

What i am trying to say is this, he has seen the so called 'freedom' in the outside world already. He had been on the other side before.

That's the problem with ancient proverbial messages: they tell only one side of the story. For all we know, the man might have a stock of ladders in front of him which we can't see in the picture and he's just using one of them to keep warm.
