That thing Chief Onoh did in the meeting, is exactly the kind of thing ChinenyeN will do with Ngwa in an Igbo gathering. Lol! Ndiigbo have refused to let our distinctions die, for the sake of our unity. We need a nation with a strong national policy to achieve that. I think the most difficult Igbo dialect is Izzi in Ebonyi, if they speak slowly, I do understand them, but if they speak with their normal speed, their intonation makes it impossible to understand them. |

fr3do:Onitsha Ibo is a big interference to English language (phonological error). Am sure you will like your child calling Ronaldo "Lonaldo,Lice, mainload or Dilector"... Would you? i prefer imo/abia central Ibo language... |

Nedu09:And so? Who says we can't have our own brand of English? Must we speak with the British? Does Americans, Australians,New Zealanders speak the British English? Didn't they modify it to fit themselves and then renamed it American English , Australia English, New Zealander English. Even Brazilians don't speak Portuguese like the Portuguese, they corrupted the Portuguese language and christened it Brazillian Portuguese. Take it or leave it, Onicha Igbo is the lightest and sweetest brand of Igbo dialect. Every Igbo man who doesn't have bias or complex issues will admit that. |

Sijo01:My sister, dem tire me o. I wonder how Biafra go be if dem no get unity. Igbo's only unifying factor is hating on the Yoruba man. Once Yorubas are gone, they'll turn on themselves. |

dats why i laff at ppl saying SS are not igbo, someone in Imo or Abia understand Rivers dialect more than he/she understand Ebonyi or Enugu dialects. Igbo is a family of related languages. But Ohaneze should have enforced the use of central igbo instead of giving up |
| Re: Why We Don't Speak Igbo At Our Meetings-ohaneze by Abagworo(m): 6:32pm On Nov 05, 2015 |
basilo101:All the attempts to produce central Igbo language failed. The Catholics earlier adopted Asaba Igbo but it has already changed today and more people are demanding for use of their dialect in their local churches. Language variations is not peculiar to Igbo as Yorubas equally have same issue except that they all accepted Oyo as a general dialect. Igbos have tried Bonny Igbo, Isuama Igbo and Igbo Izugbe. I think we should all adopt Igbo Izugbe as it is a mixture of all dialects. |

okay. |
| Re: Why We Don't Speak Igbo At Our Meetings-ohaneze by SpaceTour: 6:35pm On Nov 05, 2015 |
The original Igbo Bible was written in Onitsha dialect and till today the Catholic Church is till using Onitsha dialect to hold mass everywhere in Igboland and anywhere Igbo is used as Mass proceedings. It is so because Onitsha happened to be the first place the Catholic and CMS berthed when they landed in the Eastern Nigeria. |
| Re: Why We Don't Speak Igbo At Our Meetings-ohaneze by Abagworo(m): 6:42pm On Nov 05, 2015 |
SpaceTour:Asaba not Onitsha was previously used in the 90s but today most communities have rejected it and use only their dialect. The 1st Igbo translation was in Isuama dialect. |
| Re: Why We Don't Speak Igbo At Our Meetings-ohaneze by SpaceTour: 6:48pm On Nov 05, 2015 |
Shut up my friend. Onitsha was the first place the Missions first landed in the East that was why the it was why the Onitsha language was originally used by the missions, even up till now the Catholic mission is still using the Onitsha dialect as their official language in their mass. It's only Ohaneze that has this problem, when Ebonyi and Delta people are having Igbo conversations in Port Harcourt. Mumu people, or should I say Ndi Mumu. |

Sijo01:Yet you cannot name one major war Igbo people have with each other. Can we say so for other regions? |

| Re: Why We Don't Speak Igbo At Our Meetings-ohaneze by Yellowson(op): 7:24pm On Nov 05, 2015 |
I think the use of central igbo should be practised now and the different dialects can be spoken in the region were it originates or between people of that area because if are to forget the central igbo and chase after the different dialects our language may not live to survive it.we have to revive our igbo language first before any other thing. |

SpaceTour:What is the difference between Onitsha and Asaba. I know Asaba uses Osebuluwa and dinwenu in place of Olisa used in Onitsha. Missionaries had contact with Igbo speakers in Bonny and Anioma before entering the East. The Bonny and Anioma guided them into the East. |

Nedu09:you are damn right! I was explaining this same thing to someone, I notice that aguata orumba dialect doesn't bring out the R and L interference! but onicha does... unfortunately onicha dialect is seen as sexy (lol) so many pple choose to speak it. kedu ife icholo(ichoro) iwetalam(iwetaram). abulom instead of aburom |
| Re: Why We Don't Speak Igbo At Our Meetings-ohaneze by SpaceTour: 8:00pm On Nov 05, 2015 |
There is a lot difference. Onitsha dialect is not 2. So what is spoken in Oshimili (Asaba) is different. Go and read up that google book. Catholic missions and CMS first arrived and established its first church in Onitsha via Crowther and other missionaries. That is the reason the head of Catholic and Anglican in the Eastern region is still in Onitsha till today. That is still the reason the only Basilica in Nigeria- The Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity is in Onitsha. Its not a coincidence. Abagworo: |

That's why we call them "Ohaneze ndi aturu"! They are not even ashamed to admit this in public? SMH. Every language has dialects including their slave master's language; English. Ever heard the Scousers or Devonshires speak English? There is a reason why English language lesson is compulsory in English schools right there in England. They are just idiots, tell them I said so! In order words: They are good slaves! What happened to our "Igbo Izugbe", taught in our schools? A lot of things Biafra shall restore....~getting rest for tomorrow~ ![]() |
