That is one hell of a clash of two African Titans...it will surly be ladden with goals but I fear the Eaglets will need to be less wasteful and more domineering in midfield...The Mexican Team showed glimpse of a far more Modern and Conventional school of Soccer..Better Control and Technique..i will split this 50/50 against Nigeria and Mali..i hope the Eaglets Win

While congratulating whoever wins the final.....I still do not think that we should be rejoicing.

Nigeria has won the U17 trophy 4 times.

Meanwhile.....we have qualified for the world cup like....5 times....and we have not done better than the second round.

Does that tell you something.?

For me, it tells me one thing (and no, I am not going to talk about football age).

The way we bring up our players is not good at all. Somehow, our lads do well at U 17.....and then that's it. They do not keep on progressing, do not keep on learning. They want to be big boys, earning big salaries....and as such sign big contracts with big clubs....which have a host of players better than you. At the end of the day.....you would have spent five years on the bench, while your mates from another country have won the World Cup.

I am not a football expert, just a fan. And like fans all over....I want victories. Victories.

SOmethng has to change in Nigerian football. We cannot continue like this. Back in 1993 I was dancing when we won the trophy for the second time. If we win it this time....I will be looking and nodding like Agama lizard.

Finalist for 2 old men that formed the two teams.
None of these guys are under 17 for God's sake.

That is why we are always winning the under 17 tournament and when they are supposed to perform, they are way too old and they end up becoming wastes to their clubs.

Too bad for African mentality. To Win At All Cost syndrome killing us.

My friend says Mali should be respected. I disagree that it should rather be vice versa.

Dunno if i'm the only one that believes we would outplay them and shock their goalie like Sokari did last year with that stunning goal.

Mali are the best attacking team from fifa stats cos of most shots(off and on-target). Yet Nigeria's conversion rate is higher and they should dread Osimhem. Even Messi didnt score 9goals from just 9shots!!!! 9 from 9 100% shocked

Mali will defend and will love penalties. Nigeria are good at that too. Bamgnoye is back so Mali should expect less shots on target.

I love the all-african final.

We should 1st watch the match they played with belgium, then further exploit that loophole. Yes Mali have. Lazarus will do expose it too

These Malians at best, would beat the Eaglets in the group stage to the semi-finals; but would come tumbling on a thorny ground, in the Grand Finale - anywhere!

They are teenagers really....FIFA has become a lot stricter. CT/MRI for players has become compulsory....and also NFF recruits from the academies....not the clubs like they used to.

The problem really, even with overage....is what happens next. IMO....playing at u17 does not mean you would become a world class player.

For example....do you know Anthony Le Tallec, and Florent Sinama-Pognolle.? They were the stars of the French U17 squad that won the 2001 U17 trophy . They did not make a big impact in the National team.

Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen never played at an U17 cup for England....yet they did well. Sunday Oliseh never played at youth level for Nigeria....yet he did well.

The problem is

1.We do not train our players well after winning the trophy. They should be learning how to be better, not posing as big boys.

2.Many players now play for longer periods of time. As a result....it takes longer for an U17 player to get into the senior squad.
