Since we're in the era of change, let's discuss Nigerian politics without sentiments. The picture below clearly states what the verdict of the tribunal should have been since it's a straight forward case(as the electoral act clearly captures the offence/error and the remedy/punishment). What do you think made the tribunal judges go ultra vires,to pronounce the APC candidate the winner,as against the clear provisions of the law which they are duly aware of? Do you think there's an external influence involved in this? Let's hear your views from a neutral stand point.

Indeed. You put it well. Folks should study the interpretation a legal expert made of the judgement below before making sentimental statements because of political and sectional affiliations. PDP left itself open to all we are seeing today because the Party simply loves impunity and criminal behaviour even when such is unnecessary and not needed at all. PDP and its fan should spare us this current "victimisation" talk they are running around Nigeria with. Did you do wrong or not is the question the Party and its supporters must face. Can it be proven you did wrong? If yes then why complain when the entire world knows Nigeria is no longer under the control of the PDP whereby impunity is always allowed to go unpunished?

Did the PDP conduct its Primary after the period within which to do that has elapsed or not? Answer without sentiments and without ambiguity before you begin insulting Nigeria and calling her names. Stop looking at how the APC gained the victory. Look at how it is proven, from the evidence of INEC, that the PDP did wrong and the lessons the Party must learn from this. The fact is that the PDP is like a criminal entity that enjoys acting with impunity because of the belief it will never be punished or made to account for its wrongful deeds. Is it not the same Party that boasted, whether it led well or not, they will be in charge for at least another 60 years because they believed they were above the electoral will and judgement of Nigerians ?

The fact that the purported PDP primary election was held outside the stipulated time as stated by an INEC staff whose testimony was accepted by the Tribunal is conclusive of the fact that the PDP never validly nominated a candidate as required by law. In essence, the PDP did not participate in the election. It has been argued by some that it amounts to "double standard" for the Tribunal which sat in Abuja because of the security situation in the State to invalidate the PDP primary election which was taken to the party secretariat in Abuja also because of "security concerns".

On the surface, this argument appears logical. However, the point should be made that the Tribunal was not the proper forum for the PDP to raise such a defence. If INEC that is vested with the constitutional power to monitor and supervise primary elections of political parties did not admit or agree with the defence of the PDP on why it held Its purported gubernatorial primary in Abuja instead of Taraba State as stipulated by the Electoral Act, there is no justification for inviting the Tribunal to consider, accept or agree with that defence.

Also, it should be emphasised that even If the primary was held in Taraba State it would not have altered the decision of the Tribunal since it was held outside the stipulated time. The Court of Appeal and possibly the Supreme Court is open for the respondents who are dissatisfied with the findings of the Tribunal to test whether indeed the purported primary was held outside the stipulated time.
