Welcome to jamb government clinic which prepares you to score high in 2016 jamb.

We will use a systematic and diplomatic approach to studying government here, we aim @ finishing the syllabus or @least large parts and also finishing the whole past questions @ the same time in a diplomatic way so for which topic on the syllabus we make a short key point notes according wat jamb require us to know and we treat lots of past questions regards to the topic....pls let's all govt student come in and let's learn together.

I only know of english thread don't think there is any thread for phy chem. Bio but if u drop ur contact I cn add u to a whatsapp grp where dey study does

Government is a machinery through which the will of a state is being formulated expressed and attained

BASIC CONCEPTS OF GOVERNMENT

Power: This is ability to enforce obedience, it is the capacity to control ones behaviour by the use of "threat" or "sanction" how can be negative or positive and thereby sanction is used when their is Jon compliance

Authority:This is the mandate to exercise power over others. This is a transition of power from the people to a political leader to make and enforce law for the people to obey. Authority has 2 sources Dejure authority by law and De facto authority by force

Legitimacy : This is the transition or acquisition of power in accordance to the Constitution. It is the "recognition" and "acceptance" by the citizens of the country the right of the rulers to govern

Sovereignty: According to Jean bodin a french lawyer sovereignty is the supreme power of a state over the citizens without external interference or influence.
Note political sovereignty belongs to "the people" but in a democratic system of government it belongs to "the electorate"

Society: This is an association of people. Link by maybe beliefs, blood etc...there are family, church, trade unions

State: This is a group of people living within a defined territory with a government that has supremacy over them and absolute sovereignty from external influence

Nationalism:This is the sense of belonging and love for a nation as a result of shared attributes such as race, Lang, geographic location, religion and policital aspirations. It's a feeling held by the pple to live together

Nation: This is a group of people living in a defined territory who shared common Lang, and descent in nigeria. It is a group of people who have common ancestral linkage eg yoruba, igbo, fulani, hausa, ibibio etc although a nation is not necessarily a state

Nation-State: This possesses the characteristics of State and a nation. It is group of pple sharing common language, descent, with a defined territory,govt and sovereignty.

Political Culture: This is the attitude, beliefs and opinion of people towards politics, politicians and the polictical system. This happen as a result of country's history or individual's experience in the country.
Polictical culture has 3 component
A) cognitive orientation : This refers to the people's "awareness" of their polictical systems. It's roles, offices holders and policies for example the way Nigerians understand their countries policticians may shape their reactions to polictical issues
B) affective orientation: This refers to the people's like or dislike towards Polictical systems, issues or politicand
C)evaluation orientation : This is the people's judgement and opinions towards politics they judge according to their preference or vakues

Political Socialization: This is the process of learning norms and values associated with the polictical system to shape one"s political behaviour. These are learned through family, school,peer group and mass media

Political participation: This is the voluntary activities of members of the society in politics esp election

I choosed Unilorin, and a guy who is doing the same course I am going for in Ilorin said Commerce is not allowed.

POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES
An ideology is a system of ideas carefully put together to explain and justify a prevailing social reality or a proposed one

Types of ideology

A) COMMUNALISM: this is a the oldest of all political ideology, probably as human community itself. It is a system in which people come together to harness their resources for the benefit of everyone. The ideology is base on the fact dat no man is an island and no one can survive on their own. So this system adopts Co operation and collectiveness...whereby the pull their resources together for public benefits. The founding fathers of COMMUNALISM is JULIUS NYERERE OF TANZANIA.

FEATURES
1)Collective ownership
2)Self government: issues are public discussed and solved
3)General participation in the community
4)Co-operation of full citizens
5)practised in small homogenous states

B) COMMUNISM: This is a creation of the German philosopher Karl Marx in the 19th century in which the community through common ownership collectively own the means of production. North Korea and north Vietnam practice this system

C)SOCIALISM
This is a socio-political and economic system of government in which the state owns, control the means of production exchange and distribution of goods and services.the main aim of socialism is to ensure equal distribution of wealth. RUSSIA is the first country to embrace socialism founder of SOCIALISM is Karl Marx frm Germany

D)CAPITALISM :This is the socio-political economic systems in which he means of production, exchange and distribution of goods and services is being concentration in the of private hands

E)FEUDALISM is the identification of landed property with sovereignty

F)FASCISM: This is the form of government headed by a dictactor who has absolute control of all the activities in the state and personal liberties are denied for example Italy under benito mussolini

G)NAZISM: This the form of government juts fascism the government has total control over the social, political, and economic activities of the state's with fundamental right being denied. Navistar Germany under Adolf Hitler

H)TOTALITARIANISM: this is the form of government in which the state has absolute control or everything including all aspects of citizens life
