IGBOPRINCE:I've been trying to ignore you but you seem bent on posting stuff you know nothing about. There are no languages like oredo, okada , bini.. Oredo and okada are places, they speak bini. Every esan man can understand bini and vice versa. Auchi is etsako, and is the dialect closer to urhobo, oghena, etsako - urhobo, oghene for GOD, in similar fashion mainstream edo has many loaned words to urhobos which are far too numerous for me to start listing especially as I don't speak urhobo. Esan, urhobos, itsekiri, etsako, emai, ora and parts of anioma all claim their descent to benin and we all know their times of migration/settlement and their founders. It's in history books, intelligence reports and preserved records |

bigfrancis21:Noise. Show us historical evidence besides someone's blog post. I can make a website and distort history too and you'd eat it up. |

NewNigeriaMind:My being a mod has nothing to do with the discourse at hand. My being a moderator does not elevate me to any higher status than you already are. Neither does it mean that I cannot come in to correct an impression where necessary. We are all here to learn and I am free to debate freely with anybody on this forum so far as the debate is conducted within the rules of this forum, which I have always done. So please, drop all that moderator talk. Anyway, I am not Bini or Edo. Let NigerMan1 himself take the debate from here. |

Abagworo:I doubt that Ovie is related to the Igbo word Obi. If there's an Igbo word related to Ovie, it is Eze. This will surprise most people because Eze and Ovie don't look anything alike. But I believe they are cognate. |
| Re: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by Neobulletzz(m): 6:07pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
Goodboiy:but king in urhobo is called Ovie not Oba |

bigfrancis21:I didn't said Edo is the Same as the Yoruba... I said both of "em are mutual neighbours since the ancient time and also trading partners..... And that ancient mutuality is what bring about this modern time closeness between the two... And I also mean sharing cultural ties does not mean they are Yoruba.. But both are like bread and butter likewise Itsekiri.. And I also stated that the Edo's stand a better chance to understand our language than ours understanding theirs because there are Yoruba speaking community in Edo state. |

bigfrancis21:Your source is a tribalist forum attacking anything everything Yoruba. Because you read something online doesn't make it a fact, that you of all people should know. I forget you tribalist always believe what strokes your emotions. |

IlekeHD: No mind that bignothing mod. I think Iamtriblist already exposed him as a fraud awhile back. Nobody takes that fool seriously anymore. And this guy is a mod as dull as he is. No wonder Nigeria is not moving forward because uneducated fools are given jobs. He goes around with an air of intellectualism but when you probe him, you discover he lacks basic knowledge and logic. |

bigfrancis21:Your are making a fundamental false statement and backing it up with a worse source, even worst than wiki. Being a MOD places higher responsible on you and I believe you should be smart enough to know that ![]() |

bigfrancis21:If you want to cite people on the lunatic fringe as your source of information that is fine. But remember your audience on nairaland are far more sane and informed. I wouldn't be surprised if you are the author of the link you provided since we know your views already. |
| Re: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by rexbuton: 6:12pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
Radoillo:Indeed.. Ovie is actually derived from Ogie, the original edo word for king, that's why the first kings were called ogiso- shortened from ogie- iso, meaning sky-kings since they were believed to have descended from the sky |

FisifunKododada:I heard He even claimed that Ijebu Igbo and egba people from Ogun state are Igbos. Like wtf? Seun raise your moderator standards. This is a big shame. |
| Re: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by bigfrancis21(mod): 6:14pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
Classicool:Well, my point is Bini or Edoid languages are totally different from Yoruba language or its dialects. The Yoruba-speaking communities in Edo state share border with Yoruba land, however the core Edoid languages in Edo state are different from Yoruba language. |

bigfrancis21:Yet you didn't address the disconnect I pointed out between your initial post and the source you are quoting. you are a bigot even if you don't realize it, in your subconscious you are a bigot that's why on reflex you make silly comments to attack yorubas without even knowing it. |
| Re: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by FisifunKododada: 6:17pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
IlekeHD: I am not surprised. Trust me if these people can claim Igalla they can claim any tribe. Seun needs to do the needful, Walahi. |

FisifunKododada:A while ago on nl, someone even claimed that Ekiti is associated with igbo language because it was different from central Yoruba. God forbid bad news. Clowns. |
| Re: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by Agbaletu: 6:25pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
IlekeHD:Hahahaaha....We have no close or distant association with Igbo Language. I think these people should stop distorting history. If by marriage....Yes |

IlekeHD:Seun may not have the calling to uphold the honour of the Yoruba race, he has done his part of the deal, it is for us to match the insolents in equal measure, it is our Yoruba: no Oduduwa here, no Awo. Meanwhile, bigfrancis21 is created to persecute Yoruba, I don't expect anything less. He is fulfilling his calling. Look the way they often click likes for each other? That's mob-action at play. I don't and wont hate Igbo because of bigfrancis, he is projecting his persona, and not the Igbo verdict, and if thats the Igbo verdict, then the Yoruba verdict has not materialized cause you don't play by your assailants rules. The end game is for the champions'. |
