You can’t slash salaries of magistrates, Imo NBA tells Okorocha
The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Imo State yesterday declared that Governor Rochas Okorocha has no constitutional power to slash wages of magistrates in the state.
The NBA also stated that magistrates were not under the executive arm of government and that it was erroneous to regard them as staff of the ministries under the executive arm.
A statement signed by Stanley Imo, Christian Ikwuoma, Max Nwokenta and Chris Ugwuorji branch chairmen of Owerri, Orlu, Okigwe and Mbaise, respectively stated: “The Bar in Imo state, hereby, condemns in strong terms and also rejects any purported new salary structure unilaterally formulated by the Imo State Government for Imo State magistrates.

How did Imo State fall into the hands of this cretin? The same way Amaechi started messing with the judiciary the moment he became an APC stooge and now this! Total lack of respect for institutions so how can d judiciary be independent if d executive gets a at with tinkering with their income and appointments at will?

You people should stop this daily crap of looking for fault where there is none. Go chevk your State. Imo State pays the highest in Southeast and is not owing anyone. There is economic problem in all the States in Nigeria and something has to be done for Nigerian economy to stand the heat. Okorocha wants to pay the same salary scale with other Southeast States but because Imo judiciary workers have been earning higher it is now seen as reduction
