You are right by quoting the words in the thread. But the reason ''self-righteous'' people like us counter the thread is that we won't sit down and watch people like @safarigirl further divide the country with the bitterness incurred by sentiment. We want a better Nigeria and we still believe in this country. We will teach people to do what is right because it is right, not because 'he-is-my-brother'. Hello, vote for the man you think has the better goal because you think so, not because he is your brother. Quit sentiments! We won't support threads that preach sentiments!
Go and watch every goal before you dash it to Cortes.... did you watch every goal? Be fair and watch everything.

Once again, even when a Nigerian clearly deserves it,you lot are the first to desert him and then shout merit here. Thank God they don't ask Nigerians to vote in all things, else,we will never win a thing because some people think they are Gandhi

The world would be a better place if we can leave sentiments out of everything we do, the Nigerian guy now has a better change to make it in life with or without the best goal award, I voted the guy already. Who won the best goal award at the last U-17? I bet you don't know without the help of google.
do u know the meaning of setiment ? Yet u still voted for the guy abi why u come dey talk like a new fool in town now?only losers look for excuses. Very observant of you Sir.......*smiles*

Nwakali's freekick was in every way "top quality" like Dante Rigo's against Costa Rica.

Well, fifa.com made Rigo "player to watch" on semi-finals and final/3rd place match days.

I think they got a soft spot for the lad. But indeed Nwakali's was top notch (from 25 yards).

*smiles*

All the same sha...... Let's not complain. I really wanna know the goals that eventually make up Chile 2015 top ten goals by November 17-18.

benboa:
BUT WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DANTE RIGO'S GOAL AND OUR OWN NWAKALI'S GOAL,

HOW COME NWAKALI WAS NOT NOMINATED ?? NA OJORO JOOR

Just calm down, maybe you need to edit all the typo errors in your write up. I never said I voted for the Nigerian guy cos the mexican got my vote.
I took a look at ur profile and noticed that in reality I would call you bros' but it seems its not all bros' that have common sense.

Now you got it all wrong again! I'm not saying you should vote for who deserves it; I'm saying you should vote for who you THINK deserves it because you think he deserves it NOT because he is your brother. You can vote for Orji if you think he deserves it; that's fair enough! But don't vote for Orji all because he is a Nigerian like you- that's sentiment! Do what's right to someone because it is right, NOT because the person shares the same border as you! By extension, everyone in the world are all one family. So quit tribalism!

quote author=TheSuperNerd post=39937179]Nooooo Sir...... Pls, don't get it twisted.

Both are Nigerians. Orji fought on the field and scored this goal for the Green and White of Nigeria...... NOT BIAFRA OR WHATEVER.

First off, Congratulations to all Nigerians on the recent success of the Golden Eaglets....

Your support was greatly appreciated throughout the tournament, but one last thing is needed from you guys

Please you guys should go vote for Goal of the
Tournament:
http://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/videos/goal-of-the-tournament/index.html

We have 2 players in contention, Osimhen and Orji Okonkwo. Abeg no need for us to split votes, Osimhen has already gotten Golden boot and Silver ball, so if you guys can help out Orji Okonkwo and vote
his goal, great!

cc: Mukina2, lalasticlala, Seun....please if you guys can move this to FP so more people can vote, it would be greatly appreciated

Voting ends on Monday, Nov. 16. Thank you
That's my problem with you. You always attach sentiment to your reasoning. Its obvious, you will be a bad judge.

I voted Diego Cortes goal (MEX)

Any Nigerian that didn't vote for Orji must be from another tribe other than Igbo because I don't see the reason why a reasonable Nigerian won't vote for Orji's goal.

If we continue this hatred,I bet you we won't go anywhere with it

I vote for whoever deserves my vote, even as stvpid as you are, if we are to vote for the most stvpid person on NL, after checking the whole nominees and I think you deserve it, I would gladly vote for you. Our disagreement on this issue won't make me vote for someone else.

I have a lot of negative opinions about you, but I don't. know you personally, so I can't say jack.

Patriotism aside, Okonkwo's goal is d best.

Fact. Some people feel putting a Nigerian down is being real. We have seen lots of players skin many defenders and score. It is far easier than What Orji did. Cortes goal is exciting but Orji's goal is next to impossible.

Oga, this is not a matter of racial discrimination. Just cut the crap! Everyone has a right to vote for whoever they think deserve the award; we shouldn't always be tribalistic and sentimental.

Do you mean Okocha as world player or Africa player? Tell me the trophies Okocha won? A man that did not even win the Africa cup of nations! Ronaldinho won the Uefa so he was given world player award. Okocha was a great player but he was unlucky with trophies, that's it! If he made it to the finals of tournaments, he would have been awarded. George Weah was African and he won world player. These golden eaglets are Africans, they are winning these major awards because the made it to the finals! How many goals did Okocha even scored? Can you compare him with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo of today? Okay, now tell me why these Nigerian players are choosing to play for foreign clubs and not our national clubs.

Okocha was part of the 1994 Cup of Nations winning team.

Well said again...... "Next to impossible" from 35 yards!!!!!!!!!! Come on!!!!

Cortes' goal I love and appreciate but Orji's "A WONDER GOAL" from "almost nothing"..... He had a couple of defenders in front of him but still he "found that angle"..... My goodness!!!

Beating defenders to give a simple tap-in is a little easier than "hitting a bullet from distance" with such accuracy, precision and power. What a goal that was!!!!!

Like you said, "......NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE"

**smiles**
