China keeps its currency artificially low to encourage more exports, so why would the US and their corrupt World Bank and IMF ask Nigeria to devalue its currency when we only export raw materials. Even though I have opposed Baba PMB on many issues but I support him on this one. He should not succumb to US pressure. |

Better play ball before they start dropping bombs on Nigeria. Saddam got his own share of bombs, ditto Gaddafi. Nigeria might be next. ![]() There go the coons who suck the US' nuts all the time and want the country to keep dominating the world by monopolising everything. Those of us who're praying for China and Russia to challenge that monopoly and turn the world into a multi-polar world know why we want that. It's not cos we love these countries - it's cos we know Africans aren't really intellectually savvy, but our holy grail is directly connected to the rise of these countries. I bet the coons can see for themselves now. |

China locked up their country for many years to build the new china you see now. China don't have any iron ore, but today they are among the top 5 exporter of steel product in the whole world. EU AND America should leave us alone, we are building a new Nigeria. We want to encourage our local industries. We don't want to be importing tooth pick again . That is how I understand this topic. I'm not an economist, I be metallurgical engineer. ![]() |

EternalTruths:I begi. This is a story for the god's. If the hardship will stimulate local production, let it be. So they want our importation to keep rising over Exportation. They are all economic saboteurs. Imagine them saying approval should have being sought from IMF, over what. Nonsense. |

Theirs is a valid school of thought, but at the end, everyone is protecting her economy. So are we. They can use the transformer's warm embrace. |

PassingShot:Thank you very much, u really understand this thread. The decision is very good for the country because it encourage local production of those things US, Thailand, Malaysia etc are dumping here. They dump all their products here and make profit while Nigeria remained a perpetual consumer nation without producing anything. This decision discourage importation of those common goods that can easily be produce here and encourage our young entrepreneurs to thrive. At the same time, Nigeria generates huge revenue therefrom. US and EU are complaining because Nigeria is their largest market, and this policy work against them. |

OnReflection:i think you overestimate the issue..besides..there is little or no economic renaissance in Africa when attempting a comparative analysis with the economic.growth of other non-African emerging economies...and then bro..u talk of the "US HEGEMONY"...Buh tell me is there any trade partner in Africa as hegemonic in the last couple of years as China? |

When the same U.S and EU raised concerns during the PDP led administration, Nigerians said PDP were useless and now they are raising issues against APC led govt and Nigerians say PMB is on the right track. When the west hit us hard with their harsh policies then we will see what those blind APC followers will say next. |

nobilie:I agree with you only if the main reason is to encourage local production. But the recent removal of embargo on Rice importation contradicts the policy. In addition, am greatly surprised that most of our state govts still think only import whenever it comes to vehicles. Lagos is launching about 450 BRT buses today and it will be interesting to see how many of them are locally made. |
