TonyeBarcanista:Can you provide a genuine map from a genuine source and let's check the territorial boundaries of those( Niger coast protectorate and oil rivers protectorate) and let's be sure they didn't encroach into any Igbo speaking area. Cos those might even be the best result, if they could enable us include all Igbo speaking areas into Biafra. Thanks cc: Obiagu1 |

pazienza:I believe this will help.... Oil Rivers, area comprising the delta of the Niger River in modern Nigeria, West Africa. The Oil Rivers Protectorate was established by the British in 1885. It was renamed the Niger Coast Protectorate in 1893 and in 1900 was joined to the Nigerian territories administered by the British government. Its name derives from the palm oil that was the chief product of the area.www.dcstamps.com/?p=3826 www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ng_orp.html https://www.dcstamps.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/MAF-Oil-Rivers-Map.jpg |

TonyeBarcanista:I don't want to go into who and who belonged to the earlier protectorates but I have to say that the British government had no complete control of the present day Nigeria until 1900 and that was when it all started. Nigeria as we know it today started in 1900 hence why earlier protectorates have no bearing. cc: pazienza |

TonyeBarcanista:Anyway, let me set the record straight. You have to enlarge the 1898 map below to see the names of the protectorates. https://www.pennymead.com/images/WINMP0454.jpg Bayelsa State was NEVER a part of Oil Rivers Protectorate nor a part of Niger Coast Protectorate. The 1898 map showed the formative years of Niger Coast Protectorate. When you compare the map with the 1900 map, you'll see that Niger Coast Protectorate is made up of SS and SE minus Bayelsa. When The remaining Royal Niger Company (Bayelsa) was acquired by the British government, Niger Coast Protectorate was renamed Protectorate of Southern Nigeria in 1900. |

Obiagu1:You should go read dude. All we are seeing is British arrangement. The whole thing started pre-1900. From Oil Rivers Protectorate (Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa) to Niger Coast Protectorate in 1893(Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross river states) to Southern Nigeria of 1900(SS, SE and South West with exception of Lagos) to Niger-Area of 1914(the present day Nigeria). All have been artificial arrangement. https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/n/ng_orp.gif |

TonyeBarcanista:Your map is nebulous with no clear cut boundaries. |
| Re: Talk Of Secession Should Stop And Be Replaced With Talk Of Dissolution by Obiagu1(op): 9:58pm On Nov 14, 2015 |
pazienza:That map is 1914 map. |

Double post. |

Obiagu1:This is better. Atleast it shows where the coast of each protectorate were, yet no defined boundaries. It is safe to say that the first map with defined boundaries is the 1906 one. So we work with it. |

pazienza:That should be your problem NOT mine. I have no time for unnecessary argument. Go do your research! |

pazienza:Yes, the map (1898) has incomplete borders and became complete in 1900, just 2 years after. 1900 map is the same as the 1906 before Lagos was added. In essence, what constitutes the present day Nigeria started in 1900 with complete borders as shown below. www.nairaland.com/attachments/799572_Countries_in_Nigeria_1900_pngae5a5c9931b6bc3903a8e6d3854bdde5 |

TonyeBarcanista:The map is the 1914 map, yet you claim you have your research done. |

Bayelsa was never part of Oil Rivers Protectorate? Jesus Christi... Sometimes you guys just like unnecessary argument... www.google.com will help a lot..... Goodnight... BTW if there is any Briotish arrangement that must be dissolved, then it must be ALL from Oil Rivers to present day Nigeria. Ethnic nationalities that wants to do collabo will freely do so at their own volition. |

TonyeBarcanista:Don't be blinded by motive. The map I posted was an authentic British government map. If you can see clearly, you'll see where Royal Niger Company boundary is. What state is that in Nigeria? Please answer and don't dodge it. And that map is an 1898 map! So when did Bayelsa become a part of Oil Rivers Protectorate? If you know your history, you'll know that Oil Rivers Protectorate was renamed to Niger Coast Protectorate. cc: pazienza |

Obiagu1:Oga, Oil Rivers protectorate was NOT renamed to NC Protectorate, it was expanded by the British to include Carlabar/Akwa Ibom www.dcstamps.com/?p=3826 It was originally Rivers, Bayelsa(whether you agree or not) and Delta states. Omo, I will appreciate if you don't quote me on this subject again. Like I said, if there should be dissolution, EVERY British arrangement must be dissolved without exception. Before the whole British drama ethnic nationalities were autonomous and on self-rule. The yeye British arrangement(that led to Nigeria) came and caused so much damage. In fact, every tribe should answer their fathers' name. Those that willingly want to collabo should go ahead BUT nobody can or will rely on ANY British arrangement. Goodnight |

TonyeBarcanista:You thought you know your history but you don't, just living on hearsays. You dabbled into what is bigger than you now you are running away like a liar you are, caught red handed in the act. "Bayelsa(whether you agree or not)" my ass! Until you provide an authentic complete Oil Rivers Protectorate map or Niger Coast Protectorate map, the only map you have with full and complete borders is Protectorate of Southern Nigeria and I have it. |

superstar1:Tbh the eastern region came into existence in the 1950s. What she explained up there started existing in 1900. And like she mentioned the eastern, western and northern regions are simply administrative regions and do not have any recognized borders whatsoever. Almagamation was simply joining the Northern protectorate and the Southern protectorate(which included the colony of Lagos). NIgeria will either remain one nation or dissolve along the lines which it was amalgamated. The reason all these Biafra and Oduduwa republic is just child play and waste of time. Until people begin to demand the resolution of amalgamation and Southern Nigeria and/or Lagos Colony becoming (an) independent nation(s), nobody will take the agitators serious |
