Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole has approved another whooping sum of N50m
to be shared to some women to organise a counter protest
of today’s protest by Edo women.
The youths, traders and elderly women in Edo State on
Tuesday morning took to the street to protest the enactment
of the Land Use Charge by the governor.
The women were dressed in red while some were half
unclad.
The information gathered also said the governor has made
available 2000 bales of hollandis material to be given to the
women.
Reacting to the development, the PDP state Publicity
Secretary, Chris Nehikhare said “we are aware that just like
the last counter protest, most of the money will end up in
the private pockets of his goons and the hollandis in new
Benin market for sale.
“We ask Edo women not to allow themselves to be used for
a dirty and an unholy job. Edo women are proud and
dignified, we trust their judgement. ”
