Where Is Elijah? by bencobenz(op): 2:54pm On Nov 20, 2015
2nd Kings 2:11 talked about how Elijah ascended to heaven by a whirlwind. In John 3:13 Jesus Christ while talking to Nicodemus said no man has ascended into heaven. If in the old testament we were told Elijah went to heaven and in the new testament Jesus Christ whom we believed came from heaven said no man has gone into heaven, then where is prophet Elijah?

That portion said they appeared to the disciples . Remember Jesus Christ also appeared to the disciples before ascending to heaven?

lied kehuh Way I see it, Elijah and Enoch didn't "ascend". A chariot or let's say messenger had to come get them. Jesus, on the other hand, ascended to heaven without let say "help".

And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. From the definition of ascend, it's obvious that Elijah ascended into heaven

Elijah was DRIVEN into heaven on a chariot. He didn't ascend into heaven like Jesus did.

Elijah n Enoch(the two men who never died) are in Eden--the planet where a garden was planted n where God put Adam before the fall.

They r being tutored daily on their end time mission as the two witnesses.

The end time events must be really bad for earth for them to still be receiving lectures from angels for over 3000 years.
They r the students with the longest training ever in d history of mankind.

Enoch and Elijah needed physical assistance to get into heaven but Jesus did not.

Elijah and enoch, like every imperfect human died .
Flesh and blood cannot enter heaven, especially a body in sin cannot come to Gods presence.

The scriptures did not say Enoch was taken to heaven .
The scriptures states elijahs activity on earth long after he was taken in a whilwind. So the heaven mentioned there is therefore not the heaven where spirit creatures reside but that of the physical heaven where birds and flying creatures move in .

Another aspect to look at is why jesus came to die for us if there was already a means to enter heaven, gain perfection and live forever.

Excellent post . For clarification , the scripture even mentioned that he wrote a letter to the King Of Isreal many years after his ascension , which shows he didnt ascend into the heavens where spirit beings reside

I'll like to know the scripture reference to back this up. BTW, how many heavens do we have?

2 Chronicles 21:12 , a letter from Elijah to the King Of Isreal

I used heaven(s) because the hebrew word rendered heaven(s) "shamayim" is always in plural . It basically means something high or lofty

Elijah was still alive when he wrote to the king. If you read 2 kings 1 from verse 1. After the death of King Ahaziah which was prophesied by Elijah, Jehoram became king.

Sorry , a letter to king Jehoram OF JUDAH . Not king Jehoram Of Isreal

OK, I see. That means Elijah was in between the earth and the heaven where he wrote the letter from.
Re: Where Is Elijah? by Rossikk(m): 12:28am On Nov 23, 2015
Elijah couldn't go to heaven in a chariot because heaven is not a physical location. Maybe by 'heaven' the bible writer was actually referring to the sky, with Elijah mounting a spaceship (''chariot'') flown by advanced entities.
Re: Where Is Elijah? by tpiah2: 2:30am On Nov 23, 2015
it depends on the speed at which you are travelling.

a shooting star looks that way because it's moving at very high speeds through the atmosphere and appears as a bright light.

just to give an example.

so, if the speed is perhaps faster than light, it's possible you'd be transported to another realm.

Gen 5: 24
Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

(no mention of heaven)

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth -heb 11 :13.

Then Elijah the prophet wrote Jehoram this letter: "This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says: You have not followed the good example of your father, Jehoshaphat, or your grandfather King Asa of Judah- 2 chr 21:12
