“Why did Africa let Europe cart away millions of Africa's souls from the continent to the four corners of the wind? How could Europe lord it over a continent ten times its size? Why does needy Africa continue to let its wealth meet the needs of those outside its borders and then follow behind with hands outstretched for a loan of the very wealth it let go? How did we arrive at this, that the best leader is the one that knows how to beg for a share of what he has already given away at the price of a broken tool? Where is the future of Africa?”
― Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, Wizard of the Crow

“Our fathers fought bravely. But do you know the biggest weapon unleashed by the enemy against them? It was not the Maxim gun. It was division among them. Why? Because a people united in faith are stronger than the bomb”
― Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, A Grain of Wheat

Europe is stealing the treasures of the mind to enrich their languages and cultures"

Point of correction, Biafra does not mean or require war. It is the current Nigerian govt that keeps assuming everything has to be met with force and will always strike the first blow rather than doing what is right and correcting the economic, federating and political anomalies that have always been the bane of Nigeria in d first instance.

Shut up your trap! Iboz struck the first blow in 1966 by killing leaders from other regions. Ojucrook did the same in 1967. If you think any man worth his salt will watch as you plunder his house then you are a bigger idiot than an inanimate object. If Ibos or anyone want secession, they must find an Ojucrook to do it by war and you will get served big time! This time, Nigeria will not waste time trying to talk to you or save any death wishing ibo, you will all be hammered en-masse! Their will be no reason to capture an Ojucrook but to level the entire alaibo and if all of una die finish, good luck jonathan to you!

why didn't you clamour for those things when GEJ was in power and your ibo people held juicy posts?

Anything biafra means war. Remember, phillip effiong surrender and said biafra seize to exist. Resurrecting it is an act of war.

Kids get excited at the sound of gun but whoever that has witnessed war and has seen the death of many by the gun will seek for better ways of settling disputes other than war.

Any military veteran in the house will understand better than those youths in Aba who think they can quench bullets with bare-hearts.

I'm not against biafra neither do I enjoy the condition of Igbos since after civil war, all I'm against is achieving biafra through war. Ogwu ka oham na onu.undecided

U emit so much ugliness n bitterness with ur words. Purge urself of hatred. Speaking ill of the dead only shows the level of ur reasoning. How did Nigeria come into existence? Is there a right to self determination? Are there problems that need to be addressed? Have they been addressed? If you'd rather masturbate in d vain hope that fellow human beings will be destroyed then you are a lost cause.

Obviously Biafra is of no benefit to u and every right thinking person needs to excise areas that bring nothing to the table so why are u foaming at the mouth at the fact that Biafra is moving on from Nigeria? You're just so rude it's alarming! Please seek help....

Wow lucky you! Have you heard of Chris Abani? I attend one of his readings and he signed all my books. He is also an amzing author that has been on exile. Hopefully one day I can meet Thiong'o so he can sign my books as well that would be an amazing day for me.

Sir Jeffrey, I was not alive nor have I witnessed any war up close, but I take care of a couple of widows from the first Biafran war. They lost every male in their family. Not one of my Uncles or Aunties in Anaedo support the movement, the old war still freshen their minds. Running to bunkers during air raids, starving school mates, finding bones and skulls in the field while playing, family with POst Tramautic Syndrome. The stories are horrifying.

I too want Biafra but not with the blood of my people.
It took the Scots decades we just have to stay diligent and practice patience it will happen.

Nne you are correct it does not require War at all. What it does require is extreme patience and due dillegance.

Biafra has been long before Jonathan else why was there a civil war? What has MASSOB been about? How many were arrested during Jonathan's tenure? There will always be turncoats n weak links but the fact remains that Biafra has never died.

War is only an effort to intimidate a people fighting for their just rights. Has IPOB or MASSOB instigated any violence? Such intimidation tactics will no longer work. Calm down n ask questions. Look around you...with all d prospects and talents in Nigeria why are we still d way we are?

Nigerian leadership has a way of muscling n silencing voices that dare to ask questions n speak d truth because of thier evil gains. Biafrans demand better leadership and will not be cowed into silence because of their Republican nature. Obviously therefore, dis Nigerian setting isn't working so why must there be war for a people to part ways with those whom they have nothing in common? Why d forced union in the first place if regions cannot develop at their pace with their resources?

Ask questions, think and let people forge their paths. If u aren't Biafran then leave them be...

Ada, I hadn't been born during Biafran war but I witnessed and participated in a more horrific one. I tell you this, when faced with enemies, even the bravest soldier will want to drop his gun and run but running will be a quickest way to die.

Even years after my experience, I still sleep today with sleep aid medications cos I can't fall asleep normally without horrible dreams.

Biafra is ours and it will come in God's appointed time.

War is not just one sided dont you get it thousands upon thousands of US Soilders have died during the Iraq and Afgan war as well, not to compare to the hundreds of thousands of civilians. The Army is over whelmed with Boko Harem so you would be enlisted to fight by force. Biafra would be armed by allies because you know the white man loves to see niggas killing themselves.

Ugoorji, Chukwu dalu for your life. You are a strong man, thank you for speaking the truth and sharing your story. Every day you spread peace and talk about your experience to warn others your sleep will be sounder. I am so very proud of you!

Biafra will come no doubt as you have said. How it will come is in our hands. With brave men like you sharing your experience, it will be by peace for the first time in Africa.

It was heartbreaking. Gadaffi started calling out Western Powers and exposing their atrocities, they had to smoke him and destroyed the entire country. Wickedness!
