The Spyder880 I know would never mock any Igbo state. I mean, what will he gain by doing that? If he mocks Imo State, then he is also mocking Ala Igbo which he's a part of. For the fact that he is not from Imo State doesn't mean he is not allowed to show the bad side of the state, just as he does for (Enugu State), so that something can be done about it.
Igbo niine bụ ofu bikonu. I comment more on Enugu thread, but I am not from Enugu in any way, shape or form.

I was surprised and ashamed.

Enugu is greener than most cities I've seen in the world, some European cities and LA/New York would do anything to have greenery like this and I'm not exaggerating. Some parks and maybe added would just be an ace in the hole. Wonderful.

BUILDING UNITY AMONGST NDIGBO:

In the chase of self-sufficiency and prosperity and the development of our race, the unity of igbos in the different parts of the country must not be taken with child’s play. This is not a bedroom talk and we will not wash it down the drain. The population of igbos around the world can be estimated as 40million or more. These people around the world do not have a common voice and they’re seen as people who are sedentary in nature. This is a bad one for us. The igbos cannot sit down and stay alone. We achieve more by coming together and do things. It is rather a foolish idea that an igbo man believes if he hustle’s on his own, he will succeed. Yes, he will succeed but his success can only be marginal because when he get to a certain height, he will need more people to push his great wall for him. We were not born to live like scattered humans, we need coordination in our lives. We need to be coordinated in every decision we make. The next decision that this country will take will affect our lives, our future and businesses. We should be one when these things happen. The only thing that can make us develop as one is if we break the artificial boundary created in this country. Immediately a state is created, an anambra man feels that he is not the same as the imo man. That is the height of stupidity! Did Eri create anything called Imo or anambra? Why the senseless disunity. Igbos will be comparing the development between enugu and Aba, some will go as far as insulting the other people’s land. This should stop. We are not here for child’s play, we are here for nation building. We should build the igbo nation. An anambra man is not different from an asaba man neither does an abia man different from either the obigbos and the ikwerres. We should stop the intra-ethnic group segregation and disunity. When the chips are down, that is when we will know who our brothers are. Since we are still in the bedevilment of oil, we still believe that things are normal. We need to wake and do our work well. Create a real forum for the unity of igbos. Inter-marriage will go a long way in quelling this stupid ideas. We need to face our past grievances and find a lasting solution to them. A river doesn’t make the same people different. We are one by virtue of ancestry and who we are. No one will remember to call you Ngwa man when the time comes, neither are they going to call you an Onitsha man. We need to get things done and if we lose in our quest for unity, we will fail in everything we do. We must fight with all our strength to restore the glory our fathers lost in Abuja. We must regain all lost grounds. We must understand that in coming together, we are stronger. We must not make it look normal when our people are been killed and maltreated in different parts of the country and world without raising our voices. It will be an act of cowardice to let small ethnic groups to fool and use us to achieve their whims. We must wake up! We must remember who we are. We must call everyone, from every location and from any part of the country. We must tell anyone from asaba that the time for united IGBO is here. We must write our race in capitals. We must tell someone in Nsukka that the time has come to leave his comfort zone and fight for the sustenance of this race that Eri has worked hard to manage. We must not make the same mistakes our fathers made. They threw our future at the feet of outsiders. We must get back our future, not by shedding blood. But through our act of tact and mental superiority. We must not live as beggars neither are we going to run as cowards. We must fight for the existence of us as a people. We must break artificial boundaries and make them know our strength in numbers and human development. We must not be stupid enough to engage in silly online rants with other people. We must look inward and fight the fears our fathers have input in us. We must drag it out and look at the early morning sun and see that there is a chance for the future. We must not let any part of us, any subgroup of us be molested, killed or challenged without all parts of be there to defend them in every capacity we might find ourselves. The fight of one must be the fight for all. The time has come for igbos to look out and challenge the soil of the earth. Challenge the incoming wind and use it for our own gains. This world will not go against us anymore. It is time for us to decide if we want to survive and succeed or we want to perish.

I beg you this day, it will not be a simple act. It will be an act that will need sacrifice of your time and resources. It will take so much for you but you should not worry. It is not for your own enjoyment. It is for the enjoyment of your children and grandchildren. God, Himself will not be happy if we don’t take our chances at survival. We must not die as “passerbies”, we must live as champions of our existence.
I believe in the igbo race. We must represent in every capacity.

Understand one singular thing: We are one!

This is Enugu state, the forgotten side of the state, Nomeh Unateze in Nkanu east. This is the best roads here, repaired by me. I bought labour, filled up sand bags and placed in both sides of the road at the peak of the rainy season. This road was impassable then.
One day, this injustice will be addressed.

Great work spyder, God bless you.

I was just wondering about talking to the community this dry season to contribute a little so that the usual bad portions are paved with stones and cement. In that way, although the road is generally untarred, those bad portions will be easily motorable in the rainy seasons

Thanks for all who are trying to revive this thread.

Please one thing the governor needs to improve on is sanitation.
Some parts of Enugu are simply neglected when it comes to road sweeping.

I wonder why Agbani road cannot be swept daily down to Gariki park. That place is also an entry point into Enugu and always looks very unkempt. It just says welcome to a dirty city.

Even mkpokiti road has heaps of dust dotting the roadside.
I wonder what it takes to sweep these roads.
It is not enough to sweep only highbrow areas. It really pains me to see those heap of dusts, it literally tips me into depression and tells me welcome to Nigeria a land where the most basic and cheapest of chores are taken for granted.

Gburugburu biko dododo, ayiyo ka'm n'ayo gi debee Enugu Ocha. You can employ cheap Labour to sweep ALL major streets and dual carriageways. A dirty street doesnt count.
It is not enough to dispose of the dumpsters the streets MUST BE SWEPT TOO DAILY.

There is something about an unswept city road it just reeks of neglect. Take a drive from Gariki down Agbani road and look at the roadsides it is an eyesore. It shouldn't be so, this is 2015 no city is taken serious if basic things like this cannot be solved.

Meanwhile I hope the government will also do some Christmas decorations. They can take it up a notch this year by laying emphasis on entrance/exit points into the city not just the traditional routes.

Before you all say no money. The decoration can be done in moderation.
A clean city makes for good psychological wellness.

The road is slowly going on, and a lot of water lines has been ruptured, while the heavy duty trucks work...... Ninth mile is among the areas in Enugu state where clean pipe borne water supply is fairly stable for many years now.

^^^The jury is still out on Ugwuanyi as far as i'm concerned!

At this point in the first term of Chime and Obiano, we had already made up our minds about them! Can anyone tell me of anything significant the Enugu Governor has initiated since taking his seat at the Lion building? The stalled conference center we thought would be bristling with activity and nearing completion by now...no one has heard anything from that side anymore!

Since they say he will focus more on the rural areas....does anyone have pics or information on signature projects embarked upon in the rural areas?

Though i have issues with the quality and finishing...at least Ikpeazu has started doing something in Abia!

ENUGU: STAKEHOLDERS APPROVE SETTING UP OF LG CARETAKER COMMITTEES * IMT to Be Made Degree-Awarding Institution* Stakeholders from across Enugu State yesterday approved the setting up of Local Government Caretaker Committees for the 17 local council areas in the state pending the time adequate budgetary allocations would be provided in the 2016 state appropriation for the conduct of local government elections in the state. The stakeholders who gathered at the Old Government Lodge, Enugu gave the approval after Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi briefed them on various programmes and projects of his administration, including the issue of the pending local government polls since the tenure of the local government councils will expire on January 4, 2016. Consequently, the governor announced at the expanded meeting that “in order to avoid vacuum, on 4 January, 2016, the local government caretaker committees will be constituted and this is in keeping with the extant laws of Enugu state. “Whatever we are doing will be in consonance with the Local Government Laws”, he told the political and opinion leaders including deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past governor off the state, Chief Sullivan Chime, former information minister, Chief Nnia Nwodo, former minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, among very many others. Addressing the people, Governor Ugwuanyi had offered two reasons the local council polls would not hold before the expiration of the tenure of the present councils, saying that the first reason is “the on-going local government staff audit and other reforms” in that tier of government in which the state government wants to fish out ghost workers said to be prevalent in the system. The governor reminded the leaders that during the last meeting of the State Caucus at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Enugu, it was agreed “that all activities towards the local government elections be put on hold to enable the committee handling the exercise to conclude its assignment. “It indeed, appears to be a widely shared view among our people that it will be unwise and imprudent to conduct elections for new councils when this very important exercise has not been concluded”, the governor stated. Giving a second reason for the postponement of the council elections, Governor Ugwuanyi explained that the second problem is that of inadequate funds for the exercise as it is not properly provided for in this year’s budget. “We, therefore, expect to address this deficiency in the 2016 budget”, he explained, as he called for the stakeholders’ approval which was granted as Ekweremadu, Nnaji and Nwodo led the people from their respective senatorial districts to ask the governor to go ahead to set up the Local Government Caretaker Committees to avoid possible vacuum at the end of the tenure of the present council officials. During the meeting, the governor drew ovations after his state of the state address that summarized achievements of his administration in the past six months. The aforementioned leaders who spoke for the three senatorial districts in their separate remarks in response to the governor’s address gave him high ratings not only for the numerous projects embarked upon and others in the offing but also for Governor Ugwuanyi’s phenomenal feat of restoring peace and harmony among hitherto warring political leaders in the state. The governor had also drawn the ovation of the people when he announced that all contractors handling on-going road projects in the state should on Wednesday approach the state Ministry of Works for further briefing. The directive meant that more work would be in the offing in various locations in the state. Also at the meeting, the governor announced to the stakeholders that the state-owned Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu would be made a degree-awarding institution to place it at the same progression level with similar institutions elsewhere in the country established in the 1970s. IMT was established in 1973 and its present management and the state government in a meeting a few days ago agreed that it was long overdue for becoming a degree- awarding institution. The governor’s announcement of the move yesterday was greeted with a resounding applause as he also enunciated plans to rehabilitate the institution.

Any smart SouthEast governor should be linking Abuja,Lagos,Portharcourt with high speed Railways with shortest route possible.

The return investestment is hugh

All the South East governor can aswell do this through regional effort with guaranteed funding from investors(for upto 30 - 50% funding).

What is a smart SE governor's business with those 3 cities? We should be linking Onitsha with Enugu, Owerri, Aba, Awka, Abakaiki and Asaba with rail networks.
