Kwarekt! It's actually spelt Ubangiji which means Lord. God can also be referred to as Mad'aukaki (the almighty) or Mahllici (pronounced Ma-ha-lli-chi) meaning the creator.

Yoruba: Agadagodo
There are so many similarities between igbo and Yoruba words. hausa is the one that is completely different. It's like similarities between French and English but the connecting nation, Russia, has a totally different lingua.

Padlock= igodo(igbo)= Agadagodo(Yoruba)

Chicken= Okuko(igbo)= akuko(Yoruba)

Stone= okwute(igbo)= okuta(Yoruba).

and many more.

Thank you Abuzola. You spoke my mind. I initially wanted to contribute to this interesting and educative thread, but was immediately pissed off by Phemour's words. I'm disappointed in you. And you're even one of the moderators. Mshwww. cry

P.S: All the Hausa translations are ridiculous, with the exception of Sarauniya's.
For those interested, Sarauniya= Princess in Hausa. grin
