How could the teacher punish a 3 year old this way?

Even so, I believe the medical attention the child received was too poor in the first place.
What sort of treatment would give room for this degree of burn to result to complication that eventually killed the child?

This is one of those very painful deaths that is entirely avoidable.

And instead of fighting for proper infrastructure, Nigerians will rather blame the devil or thank god for such incidents.

I believe teachers and parents should be banned from flogging and beating children. This is 2015 and there are saner punishments that can be used to deter kids from doing wrong.
