Real Madrid have been disqualified from the
2015-16 Copa del Rey after the Spanish Football
Federation (FEF)'s competition committee chief,
Francisco Rubio, upheld a complaint presented
against the club by Cádiz over the eligibility of
Real midfielder Denis Cheryshev.
The Russia international, who spent last season
on loan at Villarreal, picked up three yellow cards
in the 2014-15 competition and should have
served a one-match ban in the round of 32 first
leg match at the Ramón de Carranza stadium.
Rubio rejected the two main arguments put
forward by Real Madrid, namely the absence of
official confirmation to the player when was on
loan at Villarreal and the annulling of all yellow
cards after the first three rounds of the Copa
(Primera sides do not join the fray until the fourth
round.)
Real Madrid have the opportunity to appeal
against the decision, in the first instance with the
FEF's appeals committee, and if that fails to bear
fruit subsequently at the Spanish Sports
Ministry's Administrative Court. Real Madrid
president Florentino Pérez said during a press
conference on Thursday that the club would
exhaust all legal means to avoid being
disqualified from the competition.
Real Madrid club lawyers were at the FEF's
headquarters examining documents is search of
precedents that might serve to save the club from
expulsion from this season's Copa del Rey. |

Rubbish excuse. Even the so-called Madrid-based paper 'Marca' talk earlier today say if them ban them, na Madrid make the mistake. Bilbao has a player (Raul Garcia) who came in from Atletico with a suspension too and they took cogizance of it.
