President John Mahama of Ghana and former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria reportedly engaged in a public spat few days ago. All did not go as planned at the African Investment Forum in Westminister, London which held the Dec 1 and 2, 2015. An heated exchange between President John Mahama of Ghana and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults with President Mahama losing his temper and calling General Obasanjo “an idiot” and a “stupid buffon” This was after Obasanjo openly accused the Ghanian President and his government of financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign. He also accused President Mahama of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa. It took the intervention of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room to prevent a bigger episode. |
