Ignorance is usually d reason.. based on perceived fears dat marriage is a life long contract.
You know in Igboland divorce is strongly frowned at.
So its more likely they choose someone they have less sentiments about.

You people keep repeating these tired lines. Only two out of my nearly a dozen married cousins and sisters are married to people from our state (Anambra), the rest - with the exception of one who married a Yoruba guy - went for Imo men.

In the past it was like that. However, some young people are overcoming those useless stereotypes. Usually, ignorance, pride, illiteracy and sheer arrogance are responsible for such behavior. Marriage is a strong drug for Igbo unity. I recommend it.
