Prof. Bamitale Omole is drunk and the reasons he gave for not giving first class graduates automatic employment is apt & spot on. grin

The Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awowolo University, Ile Ife, Prof. Bamitale Omole, yesterday said the university would no longer offer automatic employment to graduates who make First Class degree.

Omole was addressing journalists in Ile Ife at a news conference to mark the 41st convocation ceremony of the institution.

He said graduates who make First Class should forget about automatic employment as there is no more vacancy as a result of the current economic situation in the country.

He noted that the idea of giving automatic employment to First Class graduates by the university was designed in the 1980s to retain them because they were not always willing to remain in the academics.

"The truth is that our First Class graduates should forget about automatic employment considering the dwindling resources and given the large number of students who obtain first class grade now. It is no longer possible for us to offer them automatic employment," he said

TO THE CONVOCATING STUDENTS OF OGA AWON UNIVERSITY (OAU)
Finally, you are leaving the four walls of your beloved school. Saying good bye to the rugged but interesting campus life. The memory 'll definitely be hard to forget. You dare not forget your matriculation day especially that point
when you were asked to recite the revolutionary Great Ife anthem. Many guys 'll never drop away their days at the level of Anglo-Moz, running after the "new chicks" sorry "new babes" all in
the euphoria of "catch them young". It will be more than hard to forget the memories of night classes, night reading (Imagine turning faculty
of Education to your favourite reading spot when your very faculty is Admin), the efikos would have understood my message. What of "ARO" things? For those of you that stayed in the halls such as Awo, block 2 vs block 3, Faj.
blk 1 vs blk 2, the days of doing ARO for the
flashy girls who might stroll into our hostel.
Days of congress at the level of Africa Amphi
theatre, going as far as Faculty of Agric to read at night, delicacies of "Spagewa, and concontion rice" of undergraduate days. Omo! those moments sweet! Let me quickly intimate you more of those things you will definitely miss immediately you log out, one of them is the popular "risky burger" sure most of you 're gonna miss that delicacy, "fine akara, fine bread", "Ekaro se foso?", "E-portal, E-problem", "Baba na you ooo! "Won ti geti mi
ooo", "Alaye lo n gba B.sc" to mention but a few. Essentially, Great Ife has successfully
processed into a life-changer, an innovator and the very "Messiah" the world awaits. I echo a
heartfelt congratulatory message to you all on the completion of your programme in the university. The metamorphosis has finally come to pass, from matriculants to granduands. The world awaits your incomparable service. Go to
the larger society and demonstrate that which has been deposited in you. Sequel to your convocation, your names will be entering the book of history for another generation of IFE-made changers are going into the world. Remain
good ambassadors of the ONLY AFRICA
UNIVERSITY (OAU), May you continue to
remember this august day for good. More
blessings shall come your way. You shall excel in your chosen field.
We the staylites shall miss you dearly. We love you so very much. Great IFE, citadel of Great ones loves you so much.
# Go and succed.
# Go and affect lives positively.
# Farewell
# Congratulations!
