Dear Nairalanders.
I am in a fix now. I received an invite from PCL for a test on Tuesday. I believe they are recruiting for NTel.
Please is it worth the trip from PH? I work for a Power Engineering company and I earn 121k after tax.
Does NTel pay better and what are the growth prospects. (You could state the pay range after tax)
From earlier threads, i learnt some people resumed December 1st. Please help a brother make the right decision.
I have sent pm's but no response, hence this post.

Bro,
Are you ready to make the switch from Power to Telecom?
If no, don't bother honoring the invite.

If yes, I'll give some insight from my experience in the telecom industry.
Ntel is the new face of the privatized Nitel. It is a new project and therefore there will be more room to get your hands dirty.
About the pay? I can't say precisely. But going by the industry standards, the average entry level telecom entry level engineer is 120k. Note that Ntel is an indigenous coy. Therefore its pay may not equate with that of multinationals. Note that it also depends on how the project is going to be handled. Since this is an contract job , you have to consider the reliabliliy of the job along the line because you may just be needed for roll-out, audit, commissioning or other short-term jobs.
Meanwhile, there is no loss in going for the interview to have a clearer picture into what the job entails.

My 1 kobo,
If you are a full staff/ permanent staff in your current work, just stay put.
Else, you can give this new job a thought.
