horexy:While you are absolutely right about your comments, but then what's the true essence of social media? It's of course a platform to socialise, creating an impression/resemblance of how you would probably relate to d frnd in reality. So wen u see a friend out there, would you need to emphatically stress-out every of your words? I doubt it. Quite often than none, most of us would probably use certain words intentionally, out of being in a hurry, or following our intellisense (keyboard suggestions). So don't always have the impression that while some of us make certain "grammatical blunders", semantic or syntactic errors, that we are definitely not good enough, those highlighted factors can contribute to them. |

horexy:many peeps ave got probs. This is a social media.that's why its called a chat.you're not writing to your boss in an office or a proposal to a company or a cv.its a CHAT. wonder why some peeps claim to know better n 2 serious than others.no time to waist .its a long thing to start saying 'I am' when the person you're chating up could easily understand 'am' in that context.if he or she is not a dumbo.no time to waist time. |

With my little knowledge of basic English, I think I'm and Am cannot be substituted for each other. However, I"m is often/commonly used to start a sentence, unless the exception rule sets in. E.g I'm a student of University of Ibadan, I'm coming to see you tomorrow" Am on the other hand could also start a sentence, though in rare cases. E.g, Am I expected to be present at your party ?, Am I invited to your birthday party?" From the above explanations, we could deduce that the word Am took the place of I'm simply because the word I cannot be used after I'm . Just as it's wrong to say, " I'm I expected to be present at your party ?" The best time you are expected to use Am in place of I'm, is when an I word comes next. That's the little I know 2 Likes 3 Shares |

This is basic use of English taught in elementary school. Why adults suddenly have a problem knowing how and when to use them, I would never know. |

VivaDeAngelo: In as much as I admire your altruistic attitude, unfortunately, this is the Internet, looking for information shouldn't be a difficult task. Young ones especially students should learn to research and find information, it's free. I'm not on Nairaland to spoon-feed anybody. Besides, I want to assume we all learnt, studied and passed the English language. P.S. I'm also a student. 1 Like |

That one is even good....99% of NLers cant differentiate between "LOSE" and "LOOSE". Lose means to be conquered, not to win. Loose means to untie something. Please if u fall under this category, learn now,cos it can be irritating seeing a whole graduate making this error. |

So many instances show the poor quality of education in Nigeria. 95% of the youths are either illiterate or semi illiterate. Another one is 'been' and 'being' |
