Aigbofa:According to the video I saw, the Shi'ite did not make any attempt to use sticks or throw any projectile at the army, they only refuse to leave the road. That is civil disobedience and genocide should not be the penalty, to the extent of going to destroy their base after the initial confrontation. Human rights is dead in this country. Our commander in chief must make a statement in person on this issue, he shouldn't dare use a spokesman cos we did not elect a spokesman for president. |

austinbrown:bro how do u people accept killings of over 500 people ![]() Did you watch the other part where there are running but the soldiers are chasing them and kill and shooting anybody that they see on the street and even went to the extent of burning homes and destroying properties ![]() How did the white people deal with protest like this and let you will hear minimum amount of casualty! Bros not everything will result in killings. In a war! Unless the person shoot or even hit a soldier, that's where you will engage, but the sect didn't hit or do anything that require that amount of killing Don't think barbaric |

frankwyte:My family wouldn't dare the army. We wouldn't wield weapons in challenge against the army. We will not rise against the army of a sovereign nation especially on matters as trivial as right of way on a road built buy the government; a public road. Be reasonable and critical, stop thinking within the box - open up your mind. |

The army to carry rubber bullets. So if they run into an ambush they would fire rubber bullets while their attackers would be firing live bullets. This makes a lot of sense |

Someone should go and read about the Waco siege in Texas. After a standoff, the US enforcement agents attacked the building and killed more than 70persons |

oweman:They had machetes in the video! Go watch the video again. Also the video I watched did not show why soldiers started shooting. Eye witnesses said a gunshot was heard and the soldiers started shooting them. That was why NA claimed assassination attempt. Someone must be on a suicide mission to confront Nigerian Army with any kind of weapon. |

Eseoghene Al-Faruq Ohwojeheri wrote: WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS CLEARLY People have been sending me the video of the road incident between the Army and the Shia group and i want to say thanks, i have since seen it. The facts in this video are: 1. There was NO attempt to assassinate the COAS. In short there were extensive discuss between those who unlawfully blocked the road and himself and the spokesman both of whom were very humble but later lost their temper understandably. 2. Up until the video magically jumped to when the road was clear, no one tried to lay hand on the Chief of Army Staff or any of his men. The assassination attempt just did not happen in the video. Why will the military cut the actual attempt to reach the COAS when that is their argument exactly? Or is it that argument and shouting of slogans that is termed assassination attempt on a General ?3. As soon as the Spokesman came down to pacify the youths some soldiers were already positioning to take shots and the man had to scream on top of his voice "don't shot, don't shot. we just want to pass". 4. There was no gun in sight from the protesters. The only people holding guns, and rightfully so, was the army. 5. Unlike the picture of "they attacked me" being created there was no stoning, no attack, just blocking of the road (which of course was wrong and illegal). 6. Just as the Army Chief told his boys "don't shot". One of the leader of the protesters is seen turning back and gesturing that everyone calms down. The picture of they were out to kill the soldier is just a lie. This was a disagreement during which the youths were unruly and lawless just like the student union when they block federal roads. 7. The persons who blocked the road were not exceptionally big and armed. They were youths without body built who carried mostly sticks, with fewer catapults and i only spotted one or two with machete and they never came close to any officer. If they did i am sure the military would not edit out that part of the video. 8. Until the video miraculously jumps, the road was full but THERE WAS NO ATTACK OR THREAT OF IT. Just a "you will not pass" blockade. If there was more than this please why will the video taken and released by the Army not show it ?NB: I insist that the military does not open fire on civilians who have not attack them. Not even a threat of attack is good enough for fire from the military to be opened on civilians. With due respect to my friends in the military, if we all remove the sentiment of these persons being Shia we will see that we cannot have a community where whoever blocks the road from the military to pass is shot dead even before he tries to attack. Added to this i recognized that things may have been different on the ground, but at least i am saying Nigerians should not cheer you up but ask why you shot fellow Nigerians and if your explanations are good then we accept it. But not this game of they wanted to assassinate COAS or COAS is too big to be stopped. If students were protesting and they become this unruly will they also be shot dead? Was there no other option to prevent this security challenge we have all entered? How about re-enforcing to remove these boys to the barrack even if for thorough beating? How about forcing your way through? Even in the process someone is killed that is different from opening fire on people so much so that your video jumped from an argument (in which you were right though) to a clear road made clear by your bullets. And after all these why the continued onslaught and propaganda that they wanted to kill your COAS? These are my issues with the military not that anyone who blocks the road is right. Everybody agrees that blocking the road even if COAS is not there is wrong. BUT YOU DON'T HANDLE THE SITUATION LIKE THIS. Nigerians who celebrate this action today may be the victim tomorrow because the military will not realise that opening fire on civilians no matter how unruly is not an option except you actually fear for your life which the video never showed. |

Willie2015:You have a point. However, there are always unforseen circumstances when half educated dudes are managing affairs. We are practically being managed by dull heads in Nigeria. Corruption was the bases for the last election, nothing else. If not, we have better experienced educated people who knows a lot about intelligence, technology, economy and security in this country who can handle our affairs. I have no doubt Buhari will fight corruption, which is very good. However I have doubts he knows what it takes to grow our economy. There are limits to what an adviser can tell you. Egocentric leaders like him would never allow someone else ideas to manifest unless the entire glory is guaranteed to go to him. This has been in existence since the time of Bible down to Ceaser, Napoleon etc. In summary, Nigeria is not heading anywhere economic wise in the next 8 years. I said 8 years, not because Buhari will win the next election but because, it will take nearly another four years to clear the economic mess he will leave behind. ...and that's if we are lucky to get it right in the next election. |

Small time now they'll be complaining that they don't have the arms and ammunitions to prosecute the war against Boko Haram, yet they have the weapons to shoot indiscriminately at defenseless citizens. BTW, what are they doing in Zaria when a war is going on in Sambisa forest? For more than five years, they've taken more than 20% of our national budget with little or nothing to show for it. |

Smartsyn:You are very correct. It was premeditated and it's not the first time this kind of crime is committed against the Shiites. But then, what does one do when they are slapped with an ill-considered December deadline to defeat Boko Haram, a Suni terrorist organization like all others (Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, Al Shibab, ISIL/ISIS) and you suddenly discover in December that Boko Haram is still standing and going nowhere? You look for low hanging fruit and walkovers like the ever peaceful non-jihadist Shiites who take up arms only in self-defence or in support of the Palestinian cause. You massacre the Shiites who're participating in the procession. Just in case some have survived, you go to their homes and finish them off there. That way, at least, you can report that you achieved something. You have destroyed a sect which tried to kill the Chief of Staff and in any case, they were eventually going to transform themselves into a terrorist organization. Unfortunately, the plan wasn't a very good one. They messed up the communication and attempted assassination part of the plan. Everything they've done supports the allegation that this was a premeditated massacre. I hope they didn't forget that the authenticity of video footage is verifiable. |

composites:Bros! Thank you. This is what I'm trying to explain! But IGNORANCE is just too much. That video cut many side, and didn't show any attempt or attack on the soldiers. Even one of the sect where backing out and telling the other to back out. IGNORANCE is just too much |

DanGombe1:if any sane man should watch that video, the Shiites got exactly what they deserved, they were just a ticking bomb waiting to explode at that moment, cuz some of their leaders kept pushing em back and trying to pacify them,I don't know why some group loves violence,it wouldn't cost em a dime to part the highway and let the vehicles go through, then they continue their procession,I think the military was diplomatic enough,a good look at the video depicts violence in the Shiites responses to the chief, there is nothing peaceful about that protest, though the killing wasn't totally cool, but they called for their death, who stands in front of an armed man with rifles, with nothing but sticks, bows, matchetes, and alahu Akbar chants, very foolish seta people. |

sonofananimal:Look, anybody that just watched the video should have no business commenting on the issue because the video was cut short. You just have to listen to eyewitness account or the army's version of the story. I can tell you authoritatively that there's no where in this world you attack or fire a weapon when faced with soldiers and dont expect the soldiers to retaliate, its not possible. So please, nobody should come here to blame the army for anything. In the same north where BH and other groups are killing them and u expect them to clap for an armed sect NOT POSSIBLE!!! |

They say they blocked road. Couldnt they have shot in the air to scare them away? Or at worst should them on the legs? Same thing they did to IPOB protesters in Onitsha. Using scorch earth policy against civilians. How are they different from BH? And the video was cut. Let them release the full video. |
