Unacceptable.
Fine them.
People will adjust better when there is an economic incentive to change.

And when they can't pay, what do you do?
Re: People Who Failed To Use Pedestrian Bridges In Lagos Punished (pics) by topeorekoy(m): 11:42am On Dec 17, 2015
Why would people cross the road when there is a bridge?

You need to see people cross Ojota daily and the bridge is just a stone throw away.

If animals can use the bridge, why not humans?

Yeah, I agree with you. Dehumanizing and treating people like animals is the best way to rehabilitate them. People in America and Europe need to learn from us.

Good question.
It will interest you to know even in advanced countries, the debate is what to do if poor income earners cannot pay fines.
One option is community service.
Or secondly, instead of fine in the first place. These offenders could be delayed by making them undego an hour of class on civic responsibility and the dangers of not using pedestrian bridges.
Most of these offenders are in a rush, so once they know been kept for one hour or to lose ten minutes of their time by using the right option. They will choose the right option.
Telling adults to frog jump by any military or para military is wrong, barbaric and send the wrong signals.
Incidents like this is what leads to burning and stoning of thief's, bullying as well.

I don't support this. It's better to fine them, force them to attend a road safety class or jail them.

Goats are sometimes wiser than human beings.

They break through barriers and ignore the pedestrian bridge.

Nice because bridges hav become fancyful in lagos.... We need to get rid of that mentality
Re: People Who Failed To Use Pedestrian Bridges In Lagos Punished (pics) by pedel: 12:08pm On Dec 17, 2015
My advice to the government would be to: 1, Make a provision for daily community service for offenders.
2; station mobile court all over the place and also have some public defendant lawyers available for the offenders who will interpret the law for them in layman terms and defend their rights where necessary.

There should be a one- day community service for people who refuse to use the pedestrian bridge, litters the road etc.

Frog jump is barbaric.

See the horrible way officials treated road users who failed to use pedestrian bridges.Officials were pictured arresting people in different areas in Lagos who failed to use pedestrian bridges when crossing highways and major roads Lagos.

Is this acceptable or abuse of power?

Making someone do a frog jump there is complete abuse of power and dehumanising. Why don't they arrest them and make them attend classes on Road Safety: Pros and Cons, than frog jump. From the first picture, see one of the guys' stance (the one in the middle) too relaxed and like he is enjoying it.
If you call yourself an 'officer of the law' or 'law-enforcer' irrespective of governmental rank, you must be smart, agile, always alert and ready for action in case things turn a new dimension.
That guy no ready for anything. One slap go reset am to default setting.

From second picture, why such force and if necessary, THEY are dragging the culprit ACROSS THE ROAD and not into their cars or van. Did I mention & stress the word ACROSS THE ROAD.
Finally, how did they get to the two middle roads of the 8-lane highway. Are they telling us that they dropped off some officers on one side and WENT TO MAKE A U-TURN or USE a roundabout and dropped off the other officers on the other side on their way back? Think about it very well.

That's all.

That's in a country where there is fund and human resources to free-train ignorant, stubborn and uncivilised people. Who's going to provide all these? The same govt after providing the bridges?

Should they also help them climb the bridges too?Nigerians are by default stubborn within Nigeria.

Nigeria has money. It's corruption that has derailed the nation.
Secondly, you don't correct a mistake by making another one.
Leadership is a burden not a means for enjoyment. Ideas are what drives nations. If a govt is not ready to be creative in providing solutions or generating funds to run a country, then it has no business vying for votes.
Telling people to frog jump is plain wrong. It's the same category as lyching suspected criminals.
Societies dont evolve to been advanced by using barbaric and cruel means.

guy your talking trash, my friend travel oversea or ask someone overseas if this is how people are treated during arrest,

I use the bridge, and others don't, and that does not give any law enforcement agency the right to drag people like animals,

you can't even drag an animal this way overseas and u will be persecuted, how much more humans.

don't quote me again if u lack sense to ague.

There's nothing 'cruel' in doing frog jump, at least the man go see something amusing tell him family for house when he reach. You think he's going to try this again elsewhere?

There are other pressing matter for now, until then let the frog jump continue. Until we have correction centers everywhere.. Until we have real social workers everywhere, until we have a good identity system in place.. Let the frog jump continue.. Afterall na for people wey no kukuma value their lives.
