huh!!!

Are you freaking kidding me?! The ladder is more important than how much was used to chatter an $81 Million dollar jet??!!! WHY SHOULD YOU 'ASSUME' THEY CAN AFFORD IT?! This is not the regular 5-15 passenger jet the regular joe can chatter. This is an AIRLINER with at least 130 seating arrangement. I will not know whether to call this Ignorance or Misplaced Priorities but you need to review your comment!

IGNORANCE - This is can only happen in Bauchi state. If you had cared to do a little GOOGLing, you would discover the airport (it is actually an AIRSTRIP) was built and is currently managed by the Bauchi state Government. They use it for local runs and chatter flights like this (not the aircraft, the FLIGHT). FAAN, NACHOL and SACHOL who are directly responsible for regulation of major Airports and Ground Handling in these major Airports respectively have absolutely NO PRESENCE in that Airport!
If you have just enough money, you can build your own strip, call it whatever you want, get all the necessary paperwork and start receiving Airplanes. RCCG is currently doing this and you don't expect the government to send equipment worth millions of dollars to an Airstrip that barely handles 10 flights a month. It is the responsibility of the 'Owner' of any Airstrip to attend to Aircraft landing, disembarking and taking off from it.

MISPLACED PRIORITY - Making the above emboldened statement brings shock and awe to me. If we did a little more digging, one would discover the persons who chattered the Aircraft are civil servants. I am 80% sure that if a private family chattered that aircraft, it would be allover social media! Where did a civil servant in this country get the money (app $20,000/hour) to chatter this Aircraft? Take to consideration the fact that the Aircraft will probably still wait for the family member who are going back to Abuja that same day! shocked shocked shocked HOW MANY HOURS DOES THE AVERAGE MUSLIM WEDDING LAST?! HOW MANY HOURS HAVE YOU COUNTED SO FARhuh

Thoughts like yours (the emboldened above) are exactly how and what the Government wants us to think. To be distracted by a whimsical issue when the behemoth of a CRIME, an assault on our mental faculty is starring us in the face!

My point is, even if that plane was a two seater, the point for now is how they got off the plane. To look into the mater of how they got to hire the plane is another subject all together. That is for GMB to probe. Though most Nigerians cannot afford to hire a plane, I see most Nigerians climbing down planes like this at the end of their flight if care is not taken.
I did not say lets not fight corruption all I am saying for now is your grandma and other loved ones may be given this type of treatment soon. If they can treat "money bags" like this, what hope is there for the common man? We will probably be asked to jump down without any ladder or slide lipsrsealed
For all I know they may say the plane was a favour done to those "Youths" by arik. But then when they bring the masses long ladders to dissembark after their flight and then, lie that we requested for it when they are called out. That would be a problem. The lies and the discomfort a price we will pay if we do noy reject this rot.
Dont get it twisted, I am against corruption and will not mind an investigation into how they could afford the charter.

Young people? Choose to? Disembark?
See reasons. No regulatory bodies in that sector abi.
But he's right na. They CHOSE the option to embark/disembark using a ladder as rightly said. No one forced them to do it. The way it is done in NORMAL societies is not to embark/disembark at all and then SUE the pants out of the airline and demand that someone in charge resign or be fired. The problem is the way most Nigerians think leaves much to be desired. It is like the norm in normal societies is abnormal in Nigeria.

I personally have no reason not to believe the statement by Aero. Reason being that I know how Nigerians no matter how educated are impatient when it comes to certain things.

Some of them would have reasoned that since we are already at Bauchi we may as well find a way to get off this plane.

If you have ever been on a local flight, you would notice how passengers start to scramble to get off the plane before it comes to a complete stop.

I am not saying the act is justified, just saying that I would not doubt that the passengers decided to take that action on their own.
But the statement also indicated they were considering taking them back to Abuja. And the groom has his wedding to attend. I would blame the agency responsible for providing the air stairs. Heads need to roll there.

Sue someone, anyone. The point is, they should not have embarked or disembarked the plane. And yes they could. Rope everyone together and make it a class action.

SO MANY COMMENTS, AND WONDER IF THEY READ THE STORY. THE OTHER OPTION LEFT FOR THE CAPTAIN WAS TO RETURN THE PASSENGERS TO ABUJA. IF YOU WERE IN THE PLANE WOULD YOU ACCEPT THAT?

WHY BLAME AERO? THEY AIRLINE IS NEVER RESPONSIBLE FOR GROUND OPERATIONS!

THAT YOU OWN A BUS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN OWN PALMROVE BUS STOP.

BAUCHI AIRPORT IS A PARK FOR PLANES. IF I WERE THE GROOM I WOULD GO WITH THE 'LADDER' OPTION. PURE SIMPLE AND SENSIBLE.

NOW LET FAAN TAKE OVER BAUCHI IMMEDIATELY AS THE STATE GOVT IS UNFIT TO MANAGE AN AIRPORT.

A police officer arrests a criminal and the DPO asked why he was not handcuffed. The officer replied that the criminal insisted he doesn't like handcuffs.

If I was a passenger I will do the same. They should even thank GOD the plane landed safely in the first instance

Their excuse does not make any sense at all!

Disembarking via a ladder in the 21st century? shocked

Who does that? angry
Aero Contractors, apparently. cheesy Let us assume one of the passengers fell as they were climbing down that ladder, and that passenger suffered fractures, do you know the kind of reports that would be circulating now? And the amount of money that Aero Contractors would cough out for his treatment?
