Igue festival is a celebration with its origin in the Benin Empire . It was originally celebrated as a festival to renew Oba Ewuare 's magical powers. One tradition state that the festival date coincided with the marriage of Ewuare to a wife named Ewere. Celebrated between Christmas and New Year, the festival includes the Oba's blessing of the land and his people. During the Igue ritual season, the Oba is prohibited from being in the presence of any non-native person. So strange. The igue on Benin is not even as serious as it is in Ika land. |
| Re: Igue Festival by AISOSKID(op): 12:32am On Dec 25, 2015 |
chukzyblingz:its serious o in some area over here |
| Re: Igue Festival by chukzyblingz(m): 1:38am On Dec 25, 2015 |
AISOSKID:Yea, I know it would, but considering they are the rel owners of the festival, I expected more. It's so interesting and entertaining but something is missing. You need to see how it's celebrated in Ika, especially in my hometown, Umunede. Very great culture. |
