Remember that one of the chief campaigners for Buhari, Prof Tam David West had told all of us that Petrol should not sell above N40. It was on that hoax among others that 15million Nigerians decided to vote for APC. Nigerians, enjoy your N2 change on PMS price!

Actually, Prof David-West made the promise after Buhari got elected, not during the campaign......

FORMER Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Prof. Tamunoemi David-West, said that Nigerians should expect sharp drop in petrol price from the current N87 to about N40 per litre, saying, “the president-elect, Gen. Mohammed Buhari, will reduce the fuel pump price to N40 per litre.”

.

And he (David-West) added some caveats.....

As military head of state, he dealt with the Federal Executive Council with the tenets of democracy. Buhari will build new refineries to make petroleum products available for the masses. No responsible government will allow the masses to suffer.

“He will strengthen the refineries within a year. It is possible as we won’t spend any amount in setting up a green field refinery. We already have a blueprint as we shall use what we have to get what we want,”

N40 was Never on the campaign manifesto of APC.

if our government is a sane one, then petrol shouldn't even sell above 30 naira. because crude oil is at its lowest price in the international presently. So naturally, a fall in the global oil price should also mean a fall in petrol for consumption. but our useless government with their corrupt ways won't adjust the price to this effect.

about last year, the U.S govt slashed the price of gas by a third the normal price because gas got cheaper. Our useless government should learn.

The bulk of money we pay for petrol accrues from handling charges and shipping costs. A fall in price of crude oil will not significantly reduce those prices

This is no good news.

Gej (the supposedly corrupt president and the cause of all problems in Nigeria) made it N87 when the price of crude oil came down to around $67 per barrel. Now crude oil is around $35 per barrel and and pmb (the apc's messiah, saint, saviour, 'god', etc) is talking of N85 per lit of pms (if the info is true) and some people are rejoicing.

I am sorry for this company. oh sorry, country.
with goodluck it was 87 with subsidy. with Buhari it will be 85 without subsidy. hope that helps

Jona reduced the PMS price from N97 to N87 but Lai Mohammed and APC cried blue murder. Today, while in govt, all APC-led administration can do was a N2 reduction! What a scam!

Prof Tam David West was used as a political porn, he was used during APC deadly desperation to grab power even at the cost of human life. At his age, the prof was used as a political campaign dog, today he's silent and so ashamed to speak on national issues.

Its not abt bring d price down without making d products available for d users, so wats d essence, as far as i'm concern, DPPR is not doing their work, d minister should criticaly look into dis agency n overhaul d system its not working as it suppose atleast not in Bayelsa, where petrol station owners use to play gigolo on us.

If you like announce N20/litre or N200/litre nobody cares now provided we get a place to buy the fuel. So much for the change. If only people knew change is hinged on a number line, positive or negative, its still change, right? Its now obvious that it only 'power exchange' people voted for. undecided
Re: NNPC To Announce 85 Naira Fuel Pump Price In January 2016 by MrHyde: 7:32am On Dec 26, 2015
Why are Nigerian youths so sentimental? Price of fuel was reduced from 97naira to 87 naira with billions in subsidy and u compare that to reduction from 87 naira to 86/85naira without subsidy. If the so called leaders of tomorrow r on nairaland then the future is far from bright.

Have we considered the exchange rate in all these wahala?
Using an example, If petrol was sold to me at 100 dollars when a barrel was 50 dollars at an exchange rate of 1 dollar to 100 naira. What will happen to the price I sell the petrol to You if the exchange rate goes up and the amount I buy the petrol comes down. ?

Note: I'm a layman when it comes to all these calculations .
D fx rate is the same sire which is why an average Nigerian can't believe the wide gap between CBN rate and deposit bank rates

He brought it down to N87 whilst still paying huge subsidy that the real amount is shrouded in secrecy. That means the real price you were buying could be N120+. So if this government brings it down to N87 and don't pay any subsidy I think something has been achieved. Hope you understand.
