Hello Nairaland experts.

I am considering getting a ride next year. I have seen some nice ones. A BMW 3serries manual drive and a benz E320 auto.

Please kindly advice which is better; the auto or manue, considering I am based in Lagos and with the mad traffic situation. This is also my first car.
I've heard varied opinions on why one shouldn't go for heavy rides like Beema and Benz for a first car. Apart from the "high" maintenance, are there other issues I should be wary off on the two Brands.

Expert advises from experience welcomed.

Automatic transmission generates less heat in traffic when in parking gear
Check ur temperature in parking & drive gear
Meaning less fuel ⛽ injects into combustion chamber in parking gear which generates less heat
In Automatic transmission u can reduce over heating with ur gear in parking
It has to be electric injector that works along with brain-box not manual injector dat being control by cable
It is called IDLE

Im thinkin that what you mean by 'parking gear' is the P position on the gear lever?...it is simply "park" and not "parking"...except R is for reversing gear and D is for driving gear....that wld sum up all ur talk

If ur car has a separate temp for idle and anoda for the gear being engaged,then you have problems with ur cooling system

Also,if u need to be shifting ur gear lever to the P position everytime you are in traffic,...u need to change ur drive pattern

Op, auto is better! When something is called automatic, don't you know what it means? Esp for Lagos, u want leg pain with manual? Manual is for commercial vehicle where it may be necessary to push n start in case of emergency battery failure.

Don't know much about the German cars....I'm not a fan. I prefer the Korean cars like Hyundai or kia that habe super fuel economy esp in Lagos where traffic=constant k. I use Hyundai accent 2012. My wife uses kia Picanto......fuel nor be our problem

if u don't have much money and don't like wahala just go for manual it's more economical to the pocket

hallo, my brotherly advice to you as a starter is to get the BMW 3series manual stick.
it is easy to maintain, consumes minimal amount of fuel and overall the ride is good to go anytime. in fact you will thank me later!
